I have a trip to Chicago from Oct 27-31st and I am looking for a hotel. I wont have a car and I'm planning on just walking around the city and use the local transport to get around. My budget is around $120/night for a nice 4+ star hotel room. any recommendations?

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

There is a 4* for $94 (you may see slightly different prices on HOTWIRE than I do) In the Loop w/Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Business, Spa, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Wheelchair Accessible, Roll-in Shower, Pet Friendly.

-- This amenity set has been seen previously with the Hard Rock, so that would be my guess here. If the Hard Rock, that is a couple of blocks South of the River, so great central location.

A bit over budget, but there's a 4* in the Mag Mile N-WT area for $130 w/Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower, Pet Friendly.

-- If you click on the listing and scroll down, you should see a 4.5/5 tripadvisor rating with the TA logo. There is also a $6.95 fee per night paid to the hotel. This is likely the MileNorth, which is right off the center of the Mag Mile area.

This is a very nice (well, usually - with Chicago weather you never know) period of the year in terms of temps - days are cooler but not bitter (yet.) Leaves should probably still be in color by this point, as well.  Overall, the city's quite walkable in general, but when temps are reasonable, it's certainly easier to take a longer stroll. Cabs are usually easily found and public transportation is easy but I don't often use it unless I really need to get across the city quickly.

I'm very familiar with the city - let me know if you have any questions.

I think you made an excellent choice. From a location standpoint, this is a terrific spot in terms of the city as a whole, with the South end of Michigan Ave an easy walk to the North and Millennium Park/Art Institute a very easy walk to the South. Wildberry (http://www.yelp.com/biz/wildberry-pancakes-and-cafe-chicago-2) is a very popular breakfast spot.  Another option is the Pittsfield Cafe (http://www.yelp.com/biz/pittsfield-cafe-chicago), which is very much an "old school" diner and that is tucked away in the lobby of a historic office building. Pittsfield is cash only unless something's changed recently.

Let me know if you have any city questions.
