charlievb Posted September 24, 2015 Report Posted September 24, 2015 Hi i am looking to go to Cannes next May. Want to stay in 5*. I saw on PL express deals, an offer of 102 GBP per night, for these dates. Any idea what this might be; Amenities: Restaurant Also would I stand to save much from bidding?
thereuare Posted September 24, 2015 Report Posted September 24, 2015 Please post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to future interpretation based upon changes in currency rates (you can change to US Dollars by using the dropdown menu on the top right corner of the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE homepages) My guess for the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer above would be the Grand Hotel. Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. PS- please also remmeber to follow-up your Priceline NYC thread with your current thoughts or whatever you have decided to do for that trip. charlievb Posted September 24, 2015 Author Report Posted September 24, 2015 Apologies, its $155 per night. Do you think with bidding I could get for $135-140? What sort of strategy should I use?
AaronJB Posted September 24, 2015 Report Posted September 24, 2015 Bidding is generally slightly-to-moderately cheaper than PRICELINE EXPRESS, but you need to be willing to accept any hotel at the star rating picked in the zone picked. What is showing on PRICELINE EXPRESS is definitely not necessarily what you may get bidding. thereuare Posted September 25, 2015 Report Posted September 25, 2015 Do you think with bidding I could get for $135-140? What sort of strategy should I use? What is it that is more important to you for this stay... the lowest possible price (bidding on PRICELINE) or the ability to guess as to which hotel you will receive prior to your purchase (PRICELINE EXPRESS)? If bidding, and rejected up to $140, would you then take the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer at $155? Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. charlievb Posted September 25, 2015 Author Report Posted September 25, 2015 Well from my research the standard of any 5* hotel in Cannes is pretty high. So I would be happy with any 5* for the cheapest price.

thereuare Posted September 26, 2015 Report Posted September 26, 2015 When bidding 5* in the Cannes area you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. (NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc) Select 5* Cannes... Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1... Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 5* Cannes and re-bid zone2... Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone1... Bid $140 Any questions feel free to ask.
