lwitchel Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 Hey all - I need less of a bidding plan than a strategy check. From prior reads, it looks like PSP during the high season can be a rough bid. Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage or Cathedral City would be convenient for me (especially Cathedral City, which is in between bidding zones rather than in one). So far, I've only bid in the Palm Springs zone because of that. 2.5* to $50 rejected. Importantly, the Courtyard in Palm Springs (the usual 2.5 win in PSP) is not showing availability on those dates.Looking at other avenues, Hotwire has a 2.5* (Restaurant, Pool, Fitness) for $69. Might be the Ramada, but it's missing Laundry as an amenity. My backup is the Comfort Suites Cathedral City for $80/night. I got it via the 20% off discount at Smartertravel - it's always been a good option for a cancelable reservation. The place sounds acceptable if not exceptional. It would be about $180 total with taxes. My thought is to go no higher than $60 for a 2.5* in Palm Springs ($143 total), and if that doesn't happen, then stick with my backup. That doesn't even take resort fees into account, which could be closer to $165 total if I get a 3* upgrade at $60.Anyone with any bidding experience in PSP have any words of advice?
thereuare Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 Just to give you another option, Hotels.com has the Quality Inn for $72/nite and the reviews are pretty good too. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mr21 Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 You may want to also check the prices at the Hilton Garden Inn at Rancho Mirage. I got a decent rate there over Thanksgiving weekend and it's right next to The River complex.
