CassieR Posted September 13, 2015 Report Posted September 13, 2015 Hello! I am looking to get a hotel Oct 17-22. Hoping for a 4* in midtown east, times square-theatre district or central park south. Need to keep the price $200 and below. Any recommendations for this? It is SOOO nerve wracking just entering in the info and HOPING you get the hotel of your liking. Right now I am on the site and it has me entering the locations, number of stars, my name and then preview offer... I haven't yet entered a CC info... is this how this site works? Lastly I would need 2 beds in the hotel room - how can I guarantee 2 beds? Thank you in advance, I am such a bonehead when it comes to this so I just need help. THANKS,Cassie
thereuare Posted September 13, 2015 Report Posted September 13, 2015 Welcome to BetterBidding! I would need 2 beds in the hotel room - how can I guarantee 2 beds?Do you need more then double occupancy OR are there only two people traveling but you'd prefer to not have to share a bed? CassieR Posted September 13, 2015 Author Report Posted September 13, 2015 There are 2 of us, and we prefer not to share a bed. I am seeing it almost impossible to be able to choose this option. If we got a hotel in midtown for under $200 a night, I suppose we'd be willing to share a bed, but thats a tough one. Have you ever heard of booking the room, then calling the hotel and begging them to see if they have double bed options to switch up the room? Any advise is great! Thank you so much! xoxoCass
AaronJB Posted September 13, 2015 Report Posted September 13, 2015 The issue in NYC is that most rooms are small and when available, two beds often go for a premium. In some other cities (especially a city like Orlando) there isn't as much difficulty with two beds. You can bid for a hotel and call the hotel to request two beds, but in NYC there's a significant chance they'll say no. In NYC, there's a better chance of two beds when using Hot.wire and searching for 2 adults and 2 children (even if there isn't two children; this does not guarantee 2 beds, but should result in 2 beds, 1 + sofa or 1 + rollaway), or looking on PRICELINE EXPRESS for a hotel listing with bed choice (and having two beds be one of the choices, although that's not always an option, especially in NYC.) However, those two options are going to be more expensive. CassieR Posted September 13, 2015 Author Report Posted September 13, 2015 thank you for you help! I appreciate that! In all of your expert advise- what do you think the chances are I can get a 4* hotel for $200 a night in October. Pretty slim or worth a shot? I am also looking into 3* and 4* hotels in the Brookyln area. I looked up each hotel listed here and they all look pretty awesome! Midtown east is the preferred spot to stay... but staying in a new area (for me, like Brookyln) would be fun as well. Let me know your thoughts! xoxo Cass
thereuare Posted September 14, 2015 Report Posted September 14, 2015 If you're willing to accept a 4* hotel in a zone other then MTE then i think you're chances are 'pretty good' (although far from a sure thing)... if you're only looking at MTE then, at current rates, you'll more likely need to be in the $225/nite area. If your budget is firm and you're unable to increase over $200/nite, i would sooner look to a different zone within Manhattan then staying in Brooklyn (and some parts of the Brooklyn zone can extend pretty far from Manhattan) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
