Greetings,

Need your help! I am looking for a 4* hotel in Town Square area (anything like the Doubletree or the Residence Inn or the Westin). I don’t want to stay far from that location. It will be great if i can find something between $200 to $250 a night….in the worst case scenario, I will try to push it to $290-300 a night.

Check in: 9/22 Check out: 9/26

Suggestions?

Please note that it is going to be me, my wife and my two children (4 and 1)

Unfortunately, this is a seriously busy period, given that there is a visit to NYC by the Pope in the middle of this period. $300 is not going to be enough for a 4* in Times Square for these dates and given how seriously expensive these dates are, I'd suggest not limiting yourself to Times Square. Still, Midtown in general is going to probably take more in the $315-325 area or higher, depending on the zone.

Additionally, if you're bidding, you have to be willing to accept ANY hotel at the star rating picked in the zone picked. There is now way to guarantee "something like the Doubletree or Residence Inn or Westin."

Lastly, if you're bidding in NYC, one bed is the likely result - is that acceptable?

Thanks for your kind reply...now i understand, because i knew something wasn't right with the price range i was seeing! So, where in Midtown do you suggest? because i see in priceline there is east and west midtown areas...and would you suggest another location? like south central park? one more thing, will they charge my for my older son (4 years old)?

your help is highly appreciated ...

PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed (a high probability in NYC given that many hotels have a high percentage of rooms with only one bed). While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. If this is not a risk you're willing to accept, HOTWIRE would still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc).. or you could try to find a PRICELINE EXPRESS offer that shows a "Bed Choice" option and one of those choices is a room configuration that will accommodate your family.

We gave up..it was just too expensive! luckily we booked tickets on southwest...so we just cancelled the trip. Prices were dropping one night before our planned departure, but it was still high.

Sorry to hear this ended up being too expensive of a time period and you had to cancel the trip.

If looking to reschedule, the winter months (Jan/Feb) and the summer (July/Aug) are considered to be low season for NYC and usually offer the lowest prices of the year.
