Mds.777 Posted September 12, 2015 Report Posted September 12, 2015 Going to NYC in October (October 3 to the 6). I need two rooms. I don't want to pay more than $155 per room. My star rating could be as low as a 3. Is it even possible to successfully bid at that rate for those days or do I need a reality check?
AaronJB Posted September 12, 2015 Report Posted September 12, 2015 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Which zones would be acceptable? $155 is unfortunately not likely going to be realistic for these dates unfortunately - it'll vary highly depending on the zone, but I think you're probably looking at more around the $175-195 area, if not higher depending on zone. The Fall is usually quite expensive in NYC. thereuare Posted September 12, 2015 Report Posted September 12, 2015 For a 3* or better i think you're more likely looking in the $165-$180 area. Using our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com (and using the star rating and price slider filter on the left side of the page) what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel for these dates? Mds.777 Posted September 12, 2015 Author Report Posted September 12, 2015 Thanks for the replies! One more question - should I wait to book closer to the date? I hear that is when hotels lower their rates, as the checkin dates approach.
AaronJB Posted September 12, 2015 Report Posted September 12, 2015 That was more common right after 2008. In the years since, demand has ramped and while there is the thought of "last minute" deals, increased demand has resulted in prices ofen heading the other direction. This is not a slow period in NYC, so while there is no way to know what prices may do, given how this period traditionally is, I would take a good deal rather than waiting until the last minute.
