Hello !! I'm new here in betterbidding . I will use the priceline for the first time and I have some questions. I think you can help me, will be our first trip to New York . The period will be from 04/29/16 to 05/06/16 , will be 7 daily hotel. We would like to pay up to U$ 170.00 , a 4 * hotel or 3.5 * . You think would be possible by the time of the year this value? We have no preference of areas, our preference is for areas that have near subway . Some area we would have to exclude search ?

We will be with our son . He will have two years and 11 months . Another question: most hotels charge a fee for the child in the room ? We will not ask for extra bed, only a bigger bed if it is possible.

Last question : it is better we start the bidding now or would you rather nearest the trip?

Thank you in advance help!

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

There is no way to know if rates will come down closer to your stay. The situation really becomes trying to have a sense of reasonable pricing for the time period (late April/early May is not the most expensive time of year but it is definitely not as cheap as Feb/Mar) and try to get the best possible deal for the time period.

Are you ready to potentially book a non-refundable deal at this point? In terms of being near a subway, there's no guarantee that you will be right near a subway, as with the discount services you have to be willing to potentially stay anywhere within the shaded zone area.

PRICELINE bidding guarantees 1 bed/double occupancy. There is no guarantee in terms of being able to get a larger bed - this is usually an easy request in a place like Orlando which is used to accommodating families and the hotel is set-up with a high percentage or rooms that can accommodate more then double occupancy... but in NYC where rooms are tiny, larger beds or 2 beds are often a paid upgrade and the hotel may or may not be able to accommodate your request and/or say no to allowing that without an additional fee. It really depends on the hotel and the day.

The upper-end of your budget ($170) is in the lower range of where i would expect to get a winning PRICELINE bid... but if you decide to use HOTWIRE (where you can stipulate 2adults/1child in the room to assure accommodations for your entire family) then it will more likely need to be in the $190-$225 area based upon current rates.

Let us know your thoughts regarding the occupancy issue (the lower price of PRICELINE vs. a slightly higher price of HOTWIRE but better assuring comfortable accommodations for your entire family) and we will take it from there.

Thanks for the quick response and the help! And the tips and informations too! We will not give up the trip , because I bought airline tickets.

I did a search on board the Betterbidding both on Hot.wire as on PRICELINE EXPRESS deals and found these deals :

Hot.wire : Hotel 3 * / $ 125.00 / East Village / free internet access , laundry service

PRICELINE EXPRESS deals: Hotel 4 * / $ 181.00 / Empire State Building / business center , restaurant

Do you have any guess on what hotel are the deals ?

Thanks a lot , AaronJB and Thereuare !!

For the HOTWIRE listing:

I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links.

If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities (such as accessible amenities) then what you have listed above?

The PRICELINE EXPRESS listing would be a possible match for the Kitano. If this listing is within budget, I think that would be a great option and a much better location from a tourist standpoint than being in the Lower East Side.

Thank you and sorry for the delay . I will continue to look at Hot.wire.

I just see a 3.5 * hotel in Times Square for $ 156.00 (free internet , business center , fitness center, restaurant , laundry self-service , smoke- free rooms) . 75 % recommended and 3.5 * on TripAdvisor.

Do you have any guess ?

Thanks a lot again, for the help!!

Are you using the method above to search as I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links.

If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities (including any accessible amenities) then what you have listed above? Using this method, below is the full list of amenities i'm seeing for the 3.5 star hotel in this zone when searching for your dates:

Free Internet

Smoke Free

Fitness

Restaurant

Business

Laundry

Hi-Speed Internet

Room Accessible

Wheelchair Accessible

Bathroom Accessible

Roll-in Shower

... if this is what you're seeing my guess here would be the Tryp Times Square.
