beatingxheartss Posted September 6, 2015 Report Posted September 6, 2015 I'll be visiting NYC solo in October, arriving 10/23 and departing 10/26 and am looking for a hotel at $200 - $250/night. Preferabbly 3/5* to 4 but am flexible. I need help in figuring out where I can stay at an affordable rate that isn't way out of the way. What is reasonable price point and where should I maintain my search zones in using Hotwire? Any other tips and suggestions? Thank you!

beatingxheartss Posted September 6, 2015 Author Report Posted September 6, 2015 I replied to my previous post!
thereuare Posted September 7, 2015 Report Posted September 7, 2015 Below is some general NYC zone information: ESB, MTW, TS ==> all generally considered to be well located CPS - well located but contains the Hudson Hotel which has notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards) Chelsea - some hotels can be up to a 10 minute walk to the subway but this is a 'hot' area right now with lots of boutiques, restaurants, cafes, bars, clubs, etc. so it is still considered to be a very desirable area HK - goes a bit too far west MSG - well located but the Wyndham New Yorker is frequently won here where reviews are mixed, so you should be OK with this hotel if including this zone in your bidding MTE - most hotels well located but a few can be up to a 10-15 minute walk to the subway If you're willing to add most/all of the zones above, your budget shouldn't be an issue. For some of the zones which may be an issue, you can avoid the 'problem' by using PRICELINE EXPRESS, which has the following (confirm your dates on the landing pages of each): 3.5* MTE hotel for $206/nite which i'm guessing is either the Club Quarters Grand Central or the Hotel Boutique at Grand Central 4* Chelsea for $214/nite which my guess would be the Gem Hotel. 3.5* ESB which may be the Hyatt Place New York Midtown South 4 star MTW for $243 which is likely the Cassa Hotel 45th Street New York Your thoughts on any of the above OR do you prefer to try bidding on PRICELINE? If bidding, what star rating do you want to try for first, which zones are acceptable, and what would be your maximum bid? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know how you'd like to proceed (or how it goes if you take any of the above) and we'll go from there.
