SweetT10
3* Savannah Historic District $146 night 9/25-9/27 Only showing two amenities. Free parking and Free breakfast. Any ideas which hotel this is? Our old standby has been bought out by another company and is closed for remodeling. :-( Also looking at a couple of the 4* properties as well if this one turns out to be something we don't want to book, so I might be back with those as well. Thanks in advance! Link to comment

SweetT10
Wow, that thread is two years old. That property has been bought and presumably remodeled already since I stayed there. I just updated the old post. Link to comment

Best guess for the 3* above would be the Seventeen Hundred Ninety Inn and Restaurant. I'm also seeing this 3* Savannah Historic District - Riverfront hotel (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $178/nite with: Pets Allowed Business Center Free Internet Free Breakfast Fitness Center ... best guess here would be the Staybridge Suites Savannah Historic District, should this be of any interest. SweetT10
I don't see the one for $178 on my search at all, however, I do see a listing for $198. If that is the Staybridge, and it is indeed $178, then that is not a bad deal considering it is going for over $200 right now. Not a bad property either. Link to comment
SweetT10
Any idea on this one? 3 1/2* $211 per nightsame dates 9/25-9/27 Free breakfastFree internetBoutique hotelRestaurantInternet access Link to comment
SweetT10
Ok, so we decided we would book the one that was showing up as $198/ ni, presumably the Staybridge. So I go all the way through to check out on Hotwire and the "taxes and recovery fees" charged by Hotwire are $111.44. Are you kidding me??? That is the most I have ever seen and almost completely wipes out the discount... I'm stunned. I've never seen fees that high on booking! With that being said, we are now going to just book another hotel directly and use our AAA discount. I would rather eat the less than $30 difference and have the option to cancel if something comes up. So never mind on the last post about the 3 1/2* hotel I inquired about, Hotwire says the last room booked throught that deal was the East Bay Inn. Found another suitable hotel a smidge cheaper. Thanks, anyway. Link to comment
AaronJB
Is this also in the historic district? If you click on the listing, then click "book now", then "see all amenities", do you see: Boutique, Restaurant, Complimentary Breakfast, Smoke Free, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking If so, the Planter's Inn has been seen with that amenity set. The "Last Person Won" is not HOTWIRE necessarily giving away what the underlying hotel is, it's the last hotel someone bought in that rating in that zone in general. The potential Staybridge that thereuare mentioned is still there - did you click the PRICELINE EXPRESS link in the above post? I'm seeing significantly less in the way of fees on that PRICELINE EXPRESS listing. SweetT10
Yes, it was in the Historic District as well. Yes, I clicked on the amenities to see the full list. The full listing of amenities is as follows: Free breakfastFree internetBoutique hotelRestaurantInternet access I was only looking at Hotwire not Priceline, I've never used Priceline and don't have an account set up. I may begin to check it as well in the future, that is good to know that the fees may be less. I am aware that Hotwire is not giving away anything but the last couple of times I've booked a hotel the "last booked" suggestion ended up being what I got. Again, I ended up getting a pretty good deal directly with another hotel with less hassle and the option to cancel the room up to 24 hours prior, so conveniece won out. Sometimes these discount sites are wonderful and sometimes they are not worth the hassle. Definitely have to read the fine print! I am still shocked! Link to comment
thereuare
If you purchase a hotel with only TWO hotels in the zone of that star rating the the "Last person booked ___" has a higher chance of being correct then if you book a hotel where there are TEN hotels of that star rating in the zone. ;) When PRICELINE / HOTWIRE don't work for your needs, please use our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate bookings... or our RefundableRates.com site when you want something that if flexible and refundable. SweetT10
Ok, why the debate? I've used Hotwire multiple times...and the last couple of times I have booked a deal with a "last person got" ended up yielding the same results. And, no, it wasn't only two hotels in the area that fit the criteria. One of the deals was in D.C. which I'm sure you understand has more than 2 hotels in the same star rating. The amenities that came up for that property match the East Bay more closely than the Planter's Inn. Again, I didn't book either of those deals, so it is now irrelevant, anyway. Link to comment
thereuare
The 'two hotels vs. ten hotels' in the zone i gave was an extreme example to clearly make a point, not to imply that the times it worked for you there were only two hotels in the zone at that star rating you bought. The fact is that the hotel named in "The last person got ___" information is not determined by anything in the current listing, it's determined by the last person who bought a hotel in this zone at the same star rating. We get a lot of (new) users who think the "Last person got ___" information is in relation to the description of the current property offered by HOTWIRE and is the hotel that they will get if they purchase the current offer, so it's important to clarify that the hotel name shown is a possibility... but certainly not something that should be expected. SweetT10
Really? I never said that it was going to happen that way EVERY SINGLE TIME. Sounds like to me you just want to argue. There was no point to prove. I stated my experience ONLY and in NO WAY was implying that it would always work out like that. AGAIN in comparison to the listed amenities as well. Ridiculous. Guess I will take my chances from now on. Have a nice day! :D Link to comment
