thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! It could be a problem winning any hotel as smoking/non-smoking is not guaranteed... it can only be requested after your receive the name of the hotel. It comes down to cost... given that your current room is about $225/nite, how much would you need to save to make it worthwhile to take the risk that she may be inconvenienced and need to go outside to smoke? If she smokes two cigarettes a day it may be worth a $10 savings, if she smokes two packs a day it may be worthwhile only if you can save $50+ per day (or it may not be worthwhile at any price). If you don't know, NYC no longer allows smoking inside any public establishments, so it wouldn't even be a case of needing to go to the lobby or the hotel bar... she would need to go outside the building.Even if you received a non-smoking room (none available when you checked in), i suspect you would (likely) be able to switch rooms the following day when somebody checked-out of a smoking room and it became avaialble. If you let us know what price you attach to the 'risk' of a non-smoking room we can suggest a strategy for you to follow.
