beantown24 Posted August 23, 2015 Report Posted August 23, 2015 Deal type: Name Your Own PriceOffer price: $126.00/nightNumber of rooms: 1 roomNumber of nights: 2 nightsRoom subtotal: $252.00Taxes & fees: $51.44Total charged today: $303.44Hotel fee: $0.00Total cost: $303.44 This was one of the more difficult biddings I've done, but all worked out well in the end with a new hotel that gets a 9.3 guest rating. (All prices below in USD). My winning bid was won with both Downtown SouthWEST + Downtown SouthEAST included in the bid areas, 4-star and above. When bidding on Priceline for Downtown Toronto at the 4 star level, Priceline would add hotel fees in the Downtown Southeast area, but not in the Downtown Southwest area. The hotel fees that they would add were $12.50 yesterday, but today for some reason they only added $9. So I bid a bit higher for the Downtown SouthWEST hotels because they didn't have the fees. Seeing some low very low bids in the BetterBidding Toronto history, I started very low ($68 per night) and worked my way up by 1's and 2's using the many rebidding zones. I also bid a bit higher on 5-star and 4-star properties, but never won those. Maximum 5-star bid in Downtown SouthWEST + Downtown SouthEAST was $150 per night ($361 grand total for two nights with taxes) - did not winMaximum 4.5-star bid in Downtown SouthWEST + Downtown SouthEAST was $134 per night ($329 grand total for two nights with taxes and $6.50 hotel fees) - did not win The weird part was that mere minutes before I won the bid at $126 with both Downtown SouthWEST + Downtown SouthEAST, I had been turned down for a bid of $135 in the Detroit SouthWEST area only. Isn't the Delta Toronto considered SouthWEST? If so, they why would they turn down $135 only to accept $126? In the end, the highest 4-star bids that I did NOT win were: Downtown SouthWEST only: $135 per night, no projected hotel fees, $325 grand total for two nights with taxes Downtown SouthWEST + Downtown SouthEAST: $123 per night, $9 in projected hotel fees, estimated $305 for the two nights with taxes and fees - this was my last bid ($3 lower) before winning at $126
thereuare Posted August 23, 2015 Report Posted August 23, 2015 Congratulations on your success! The Delta is indeed in the Southwest-Entertainment zone so i can't say exactly why your previous $135 bid moments earlier was rejected... but glad to see you were ultimately successful at the lower price. :) Thank you for sharing your win with the board.
