xstreamzero Posted August 18, 2015 Report Posted August 18, 2015 Yeah, this was actually a fluke accident. I was trying to book the Westin Boston Waterfront for this weekend. The two other 4* waterfront hotels weren't able to be booked directly, so I assumed the only hotel available was the Westin. The waterfront goes for 309 on their website. Using Hotwire, it listed a 4* seaport hotel for 225 (marked down from 309), which i naturally assumed was the Westin. Using that price, I went to priceline, started by putting in a bid for 170 and low and behold, I got the Renaissance on the first bid. If anything, I learned that just because a hotel is apparently booked, it doesn't mean you can't still get it. Good to know.
AaronJB Posted August 18, 2015 Report Posted August 18, 2015 Welcome to Betterbidding. :) Sorry to hear that the result wasn't what you'd hoped for. A hotel having discount inventory but no regular rate inventory is not unheard of. This still does look like a good deal for a busy period. I would not rely on the "retail price" showing on Hot.wire listings, as well. Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches. Enjoy your stay.
