Priceline Hotel: New York First Time

Hello, this is my first post, and I was hoping that you might be able to help me.

I would like to stay in Manhattan for 3 nights 30 May 2006 - 02 June 2006 but get a reasonable price through priceline. I am particularly interested in the Embassy suites as they have very good reviews on Trip Advisor.

Is there any advice that you can recommend as to how one can target a good hotel such as the Embassy Suites or The Doubletree Metropolitan or Courtyard Marriot . This is my first attempt to use the Priceline/Hotwire route to a cheaper better hotel. This site is excellent and I have spent ages reading but I am still a bit confused and will have to go over it again.

The Embassy Suites is a very nice hotel, but it is not in a great location for a first time visitor. The other two properties you can probably do better, depending upon your budget. What are you expecting your nightly room cost to be?

Booked without Priceline/hotwire as my wife likes to

know exactly where she is staying. Did lots of research on Tripadvisor and

Virtual tourist before making an educated decision.

Booked a place on West 23rd street called Leo House.

Heard about it through a friend.

Generally one needs to book 4/5 months in advance via Fax or snail mail but sometimes it is possible to get a cancellation.

Its secure, clean and metro is on the corner of the block.

No access to WWW and no e-mail address.
