iminurbase Posted August 17, 2015 Report Posted August 17, 2015 Hi, I'm looking for help on a strategy for NYC from Sept. 8th to the 13th. Open to anywhere in Manhattan, below 42nd street. Looking for 4 star and up, with 260 per night before tax as an ideal range. Last used this site for a 2008 Maui trip, so I need a refresher!
thereuare Posted August 17, 2015 Report Posted August 17, 2015 Welcome back! :) To avoid any confusion, please list the zones (by PRICELINE name) that are acceptable and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Thanks. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
iminurbase Posted August 17, 2015 Author Report Posted August 17, 2015 Sure, here are the zones that can work: 12 - MSG Area6 - Empire State Building Area3 - Chelsea8 - Greenwich Village19 - Union Square17 - Soho11 - Lower East Side5 - Downtown - Financial District At my price point, do you think 4-1/2 or 5 star is feasible?
thereuare Posted August 17, 2015 Report Posted August 17, 2015 You might have a chance at a 4.5* up to $250/nite... and if that is rejected i think what appears to be the Hotel Chandler is offered thru HOTWIRE at $254/nite; would this be of interest? If not, you're likely looking at under $190/nite for a 4* hotel in one of the zones above. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know how your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. iminurbase Posted August 17, 2015 Author Report Posted August 17, 2015 I'm open to try for 4.5*, yes. Thanks!
thereuare Posted August 18, 2015 Report Posted August 18, 2015 When bidding 4.5* in NYC you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. (NOTE: there is currently no 4.5* bidding offered in MSG, Greenwich Village, or Union Square... so we have not included these zones in the strategy below): Select 4.5* LES, DT, ESB, Chelsea... iminurbase Posted August 18, 2015 Author Report Posted August 18, 2015 This one took a while to churn through... I ended up pushing past my price point to find something, and got the W Downtown for $270. Thanks for the bidding advice.
thereuare Posted August 18, 2015 Report Posted August 18, 2015 Congratulations on your success! Although a little over your budget, hope you're pleased with the hotel and deal you received and are looking forward to your trip! Thank you for sharing your win with the board. An easy walk from your hotel i often recommend this place for a casual lunch/dinner (it's a restaurant, not a slice shop): Adrienne's Pizzabar 54 Stone St. ---> their food is very good and reasonably priced (by NYC standards) although drinks are on the high side (as is the case throughout much of Manhattan). Everything i've had here has been good, but stick with their 'grandma style' pie which is what they're most well known for, then add any other menu items based upon how hungry you are. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Enjoy your stay. iminurbase Posted August 18, 2015 Author Report Posted August 18, 2015 Great, thanks for your help. Looking at my dates directly from the W website, prices are in the high 300s to low 400s, so I'm happy.
AaronJB Posted August 18, 2015 Report Posted August 18, 2015 Great deal and glad you are pleased with the win.
