I'd just like to see if anyone thinks it looks like something else.
AaronJB Posted July 24, 2015 Report Posted July 24, 2015 My guess is either the Best Western Orlando Gateway or the International Palms has been upgraded from 2.5* to 3*. Please keep us updated with what you decide and let us know if you have additional questions. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
thereuare Posted July 25, 2015 Report Posted July 25, 2015 I think the more likely of the two is the International Palms Resort and Conference Center being upgraded. Do you have any specific needs for this trip, as i'm seeing much better reviewed properties in this zone for just about the same price (some with included breakfast) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
radiohead8989 Posted July 25, 2015 Author Report Posted July 25, 2015 I don't need anything special at all. I just need to keep this trip as cheap as possible. All I'm going to do is sleep in the room. If there's a fitness center, I might use it. I won't use the pool, or anything else in the hotel. I just want a clean, quiet, non-smoking room. I also need to be somewhat close to Universal. I'm going to walk to Universal, to avoid paying for parking. I'm fine with walking up to about 2 miles. I've used Hotwire and Priceline in the past. When everyone started added a resort fee, I stopped using them both. It's much harder to get a great deal now.
thereuare Posted July 25, 2015 Report Posted July 25, 2015 If all hotels in the area charge a resort fee you pay the same amount whether booked directly or thru PRICELINE / hotwire... so the deals are still there. If you're looking to only book hotels without a resort fee you can use our sister site ResortFee.com that allows you to search by only hotels that have no resort fees, or only have resort fees, or both. For the HOTWIRE offer above, if you view this hotel using the EASY VIEW tab at BiddingHelper.com you'll see that this property has a 3.0/5.0 TA rating, which is consistent with the International Palms (but not consistent with the Best Western Gateway, which likely excludes this one from the possibilities) Since this an extended stay you could see if this same property is offered for the first (or last) nite of your stay and then again for the balance. If so, you could purchase the solo nite in order to 'look behind the curtain'. If you're happy with the results purchase the remaining nites, if not, make alternate plans for the balance of your stay. You can also use MAPS and HOTELS.com which will also you to search for hotels within 1 mile (or other radius amounts) of a given location, including Universal. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
