chewylui Posted July 21, 2015 Report Posted July 21, 2015 originally i was trying to get a 4* hotel in the city area with a maximum budget of $100 City area includes:1.Civic Center South - Hayes Valley2.inancial District - Embarcadero3.Fisherman's Wharf8. SOMA - Moscone Center12. Union Square East - Nob Hill13. Union Square West but i guess thats not possible as I've been trying for 7-10 days i am welling to up my limil a bit if it will get me a 4* in the area or if its not even close to the $100 range then i can lower my * to 3.5* what is the expected price now?
AaronJB Posted July 21, 2015 Report Posted July 21, 2015 Unfortunately, you're looking at at least around $140-150 for these dates in San Francisco, which unfortunately is often an expensive hotel city. $100 or less is going to be difficult, aside from possibly a lower-rated hotel by the airport area. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. chewylui Posted July 22, 2015 Author Report Posted July 22, 2015 thanks for the replay so even with 3.5* hotel i will need to spend more than 140 before tax? at most i am welling to up my limit to 150USD with tax.... any tips on bidding strategy?
thereuare Posted July 22, 2015 Report Posted July 22, 2015 At current rates for these dates I think AaronJB's guess for a 3.5* property is in the right ballbark. If you let us know your maximum bid price (before taxes/fees) we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. chewylui Posted July 22, 2015 Author Report Posted July 22, 2015 Hi thanks for the reply, and Ive just tried 160 before tax for 4* and I would like to stick with that so for 4* my budget will be 160 before tax, and for 3.5* I really don't want to pay over 135 before tax.... thanks again
thereuare Posted July 22, 2015 Report Posted July 22, 2015 At current rates your budget is not likely enough... you can wait and hope prices come down, but if hotels continue to fill-up you could see rates rise even further from here (instead of moving down as you hope). If you want to continue bidding at your current bid prices you can try as follows... When bidding 4* in NYC you have SIX re-bid zones... at the 3.5* level you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. I would bid the following each star level (please use our link to PRICELINE each time you access their site): Select 4* USE, USW, Civic Center South, Financial, Fisherman Wharf... Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $143, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... chewylui Posted July 23, 2015 Author Report Posted July 23, 2015 hi me again lol after seeing the price of express deal of 4* in USW went up, I decided to go all out and increase my budget and finally got a hotel at 187USD per night at USW. I started at 160 and increased to 187 with 3-5 dollar increase each time the hotel is as I expected to be Hotel nikko, as I guessed it from the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal. Well, its still 1 dollar cheaper than the express deal, and compare to Expedia its about USD82 cheaper per night haha:) finally got all my hotels booked for my trip in cali, looking forward to my trip :) thanks once again for helping here :) will definitely come back once I use PRICELINE again
thereuare Posted July 23, 2015 Report Posted July 23, 2015 Congratulations on your success!
