I have bid up to $195 for 7/18 for 3.5 star and up, North Michigan Ave--River North with no luck.  Any suggestions?  I was really thinking I would get something for $175, but I know there is a lot going on that weekend.

Thanks!

This is unfortunately a very busy night and rates are quite high.

The 3* PRICELINE EXPRESS deal that you mention is likely the Inn of Chicago.

I'm seeing a 4* on PRICELINE EXPRESS in the Millennium Park-Loop-GP zone with pets allowed and restaurant for about the same price ($228) and bed choice options that include 1 Queen Deluxe, 1 King Accessible Suite, 1 King Accessible Room and 1 Queen Deluxe Suite.

-- This amenity set and these room choice options have been seen with the Burnham, so that would be my guess. The Burnham would be a bit of a walk to Michigan Ave and River North, but for about the same price, you'd be getting a lot more hotel for the money if this in fact the Burnham.

Please keep us updated with what you decide and let us know if you have additional questions.

At the 4* level in the River North-NMA area, you're probably looking at more $225-245 +/- a few dollars in terms of bidding and in that case you could potentially get any 4* in the zone.

Let us know your thoughts and we'll advise accordingly.

Have you been monitoring prices for Friday nite too (in addition to the Saturday nite that you need)? We have not seen that much in the way of last minute price drops in the last few years, so is it possible that rates have always been less for Friday nite and demand is higher for the Saturday nite that you need, and that is the reason for the price difference (more so then any last minute drop in prices)?
