ryan243444 Posted July 11, 2015 Report Posted July 11, 2015 This "hotel" stated 90% recommended and had amenities listed identical to the Rosen Shingle Creek (I'm not sure if Shingle would have been listed as a "resort" on hotwire if it had been listed?). I was actually hoping for the Shingle. The amenities for my win were restaurant, pool, fitness, business, golf, internet. There was no laundry listed which made me think it was the Shingle Creek. Anyways, I was wrong. Taxes + fees @ 142 canadian for a 7 night stay were significantly higher then priceline @ 95 canadian on a 59 US /night bid for a four star (Which I never even made because of the exorbitant potential "hotel fee" @ over $200 canadian) All in all, think I could've done better but maybe things have changed since I played the game two years ago... I can't even find travelocity secret hotels anymore. PS: from memory (I should've written it down) I think the review count for it's 90% recommendation was about 1200, however, obviously this will change, as may it's 90% rating.PPS: The "hotel fee" seems new for priceline & is probably explained elsewhere on the site, my understanding is once you "win" you may or may not have to pay it depending on the hotel you win... so it actually seemed hotwire was the cheaper option in case I got hit with it. I wonder if there's a link on this site that states which hotels are ruining priceline with this new annoying fee and how wary one really needs to be about it, does the "hotel fee" include parking?). It also seems parking may be $13/night @ Plaza from their main website, guessing it's not included with my "win". Anyways, I'm rambling, hope this post helps someone ;).
thereuare Posted July 11, 2015 Report Posted July 11, 2015 Thank you for sharing your results with the board... sorry to see this wasn't the hotel you were expecting but hopefully you can make this work for your needs this trip. Part of the issue in your research for hotel is that HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities before your purchase unless you make a few additional clicks (or use the EASY VIEW tab of our BiddingHelper.com) and I believe there may have been more amenities than you listed in your post. Can you please add a reply to this thread confirming the full list of amenities associated with this property (including any accessible amenities)... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page. For future searches/bookings you can do the following to ensure you're seeing the complete list: 1) use the EASY VIEW tab of our BiddingHelper.com and click the green 'See All Amenities' button OR 2) search HOTWIRE (or use the HOTWIRE tab at BiddingHelper.com) and...click the offeron the next page click the BOOK NOW linkin the TRIP SUMMARY box click the 'See more' link at the end of the amenitiesAs far as the potential additional charge shown by PRICELINE, this is for any hotels in the zone that may charge a resort fee (it's not a specific fee to PRICELINE customers, it's a resort fee charge to guests regardless of how the hotel room is booked). PRICELINE is showing you the most it could cost if you land a hotel with the highest resort fee... but if you win a hotel that does not charge a resort fee, then obviously there would be no additional charge payable directly to the hotel. Feel free to ask the board for help before your future opaque travel purchases as we can often act as a second set of eyes and confirm what you think you may about to win or warn of any potential issues. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Thanks, enjoy your stay. ryan243444 Posted July 12, 2015 Author Report Posted July 12, 2015 I did not realize you needed to click multiple times to see all the amenities so you got me worried that I acted too quickly and should've asked for help first (which is probably true regardless as the win is not what I hoped for); fortunately, the listed amenities when I checked my account are the exact same: Hotel Amenities Free Internet Fitness center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business center Internet access Golf nearby Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Accessible parking
yellowdog Posted July 12, 2015 Report Posted July 12, 2015 Thanx for the follow-up! Enjoy your stay. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Yellowdog.
