AaronJB Posted July 9, 2015 Report Posted July 9, 2015 Welcome to Betterbidding. This listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board, but a new amenity set for the Holiday Inn Express Rolling Meadows or HI Express Arlington Heights would be guesses. Please keep us updated with what you decide and let us know if you have additional questions. Is this listing also 3*?I'd much rather recommend Northbrook/the North burbs in general if you are looking to be in a suburb but don't need to be in a particular area. The Northbrook area and other nearby suburbs have a lot of great restaurants/shopping, as well as some sights. rangav Posted July 10, 2015 Author Report Posted July 10, 2015 Yes. This is also 3*. Thank you for the suggestion. The one I posted 2nd time is for Northbrook area.
yellowdog Posted July 10, 2015 Report Posted July 10, 2015 Best guess would be Hawthorn Suites Northbrook-Wheeling. Keep us updated on your progress and let us know what you ultimately decide or if we can be of further help. AaronJB Posted July 10, 2015 Report Posted July 10, 2015 Are you going to be taking the train back and forth from the burbs to downtown? Or are you looking to see the general area? I'll also note that Lake Geneva in Wisconsin makes for a nice day trip that's not too far, especially if you're starting from the North Burbs. There's also the giant Gurnee Mills Outlet mall in the far North burbs and a very pretty high end outlet mall just over the border in WI. Marianos Grocery also just built a 90,000 square foot grocery store down the road from the Hawthorn Suites Wheeling - it's a very nice store, complete with "stations" (vegetarian, seafood, wine bar, etc. etc.) IThe Eataly store downtown by comparison is 60,000 square feet (and that is also very worthwhile if you head downtown.) Thank you for keeping us updated and please let us know if you have additional questions. rangav Posted July 10, 2015 Author Report Posted July 10, 2015 No I will be driving minivan. Thank you for the suggestion on Lake Geneva. Going to spend couple of days in downtown to see Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Skydeck, John Hancock building & Wendella boats river tour. Then planning to visit Bahai place of worship. Any other suggestions. Thanks again.
rangav Posted July 10, 2015 Author Report Posted July 10, 2015 Thank you. Yes it is Hawthorn Suites. I got it for $66 per night. I am hoping the stay will be pleasant.
AaronJB Posted July 10, 2015 Report Posted July 10, 2015 Congrats on your success. :)Great win for this property and thank you for confirming this HOTWIRE listing so that we can update the site's Hotwire Hotel List.If you go to Bahai Temple, Homers Ice Cream (http://www.homersicecream.com/awards.asp) and the Spice House (http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-spice-house-evanston-2) are not far. Evanston is also a lot of fun to browse around. Dave's Rock Shop in Evanston (http://www.yelp.com/biz/daves-down-to-earth-rock-shop-evanston-2) is a lot of fun - they had a museum in the basement, but they just moved across the street recently and hopefully the museum section is still available for viewing. If not, still worth a view and Evanston has a lot to offer. The Chicago Botanic Garden (chicagobotanic.org) is not too terribly far from the hotel and is gorgeous this time of year. There is a parking fee at the Botanic but no admission. Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches. Enjoy your stay.
