kerosarge Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 Hello, I'm new to this, so I'm sorry if I don't do this quite right. My friend and I will be going to NYC and need a hotel from 9/13-9/17 this year. We went around the same time last year and got a deal through Priceline for a hotel in Chelsea for only $135/night, but looking at Express Deals, I'm not sure we'll have that luck this year. It might be too early to look for hotels, but I did notice a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for a 3* in Times Square - Theatre District Area for $186/night. Can someone help me identify the hotel? Amenities are:Business CenterFree internetStandard Room, Double Occupancy Also, any tips in looking for a hotel (budget up to $190 if at all possible, hoping for anything lower), in any of the following Priceline areas would be greatly appreciated!Central Park SouthChelsea AreaEmpire State BuildingMadison Square GardenMidtown EastMidtown WestSoHo - TribecaTimes Square - Theater District Area (any or no amenities, makes no difference!) Thanks so much in advance for your help!
thereuare Posted June 19, 2015 Report Posted June 19, 2015 Welcome to BetterBidding! The 3* PRICELINE EXPRESS Times Square property has not yet been reported to the board and with just these two amenities (offered at most hotels in the city) i don't have any insight into this one. For your PRICELINE bidding, two questions before we get started: 1) note that the CPS contains the Hudson Hotel which has notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards), would this be an acceptable outcome? 2) if there is a 3* offered thru PRICELINE EXPRESS for $186/nite why would you bid any higher than this on PRICELINE? If you were rejected at $185/nite why not just take the $186/nite deal thru PRICELINE EXPRESS? kerosarge Posted June 20, 2015 Author Report Posted June 20, 2015 Thank you for your response! Also, thank you for pointing that out about CPS, I don't believe we'd like to risk getting the Hudson Hotel, so we will leave that out of the picture! As to your second point/question, my apologies, I'm not understanding. We haven't put any bids in yet, I guess I'm more so wondering if I'm crazy in hoping that we'll be able to find a hotel during our time (9/13-9/17) for less that what is showing up on Priceline Express deals. I'm nervous about using the Name your Own Price tool, as I know that it's possible to "screw" things up, but I also know that it's our best bet for getting a cheaper hotel. Ideally, we'd like to find a hotel for these dates between $140-$160, but do you think that's unreasonable in the areas previously listed (now excluding CPS) for the dates we're searching for? I so greatly appreciate your guidance in all of this, searching for and booking hotels can be stressful and your help is alleviating the stress! :)
thereuare Posted June 20, 2015 Report Posted June 20, 2015 ...budget up to $190 if at all possible...My previous comment was in reference to your $190 budget... why would you (be willing to) bid any higher than $185, since if that is rejected, you have the $186/nite hotel thru PRICELINE EXPRESS (ie- so bidding up to $190 would be an overbid since you could get a hotel for less thru PRICELINE EXPRESS) I'm currently seeing the following (if you want to try to 'choose'/target a specific property): PRICELINE EXPRESS Holiday Inn Midtown New York for $176/nite The Milburn Hotel for $177/nite (Upper West Side zone but gets good reviews) HOTWIRE Salisbury Hotel for $145/nite Any of the above of interest... or do you want to try bidding on PRICELINE? kerosarge Posted June 27, 2015 Author Report Posted June 27, 2015 Hello, Would you be able to help me ID a hotel in Chelsea through Express Deals? Dates are 9/13-9/17, they are offering a Queen room for $141/night Free BreakfastFree InternetRestaurantBusiness Center Guest Rating of 7+ Thanks!!
AaronJB Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 Please keep all posts for this stay within this thread - thanks. :)This listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board, but I'd guess this is a new amenity set for the Paul. Please keep us updated with what you decide and let us know if you have additional questions. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
kerosarge Posted June 27, 2015 Author Report Posted June 27, 2015 I'm sorry, I didn't know that I needed to keep the same thread open if it was for a different location... Thanks!
thereuare Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 No problem... You can keep all posts for this same stay in this thread. Once you win a hotel, use the 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN' button on the lower right corner of the page to edit the topic title to reflect your win and to provide the details of your purchase. This helps keep the board better organized by reducing the number of unresolved threads that don't have any follow-up or conclusion. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Let us know whatever you decide or how we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
