Priceline Hotel: Priceline better value for money NYC?

Dear all.

I'm looking for some advice on my next month NYC trip.

I currently booked 8 nights at the Yotel hotel at a rate of $181,- /night ex. tax or $211,- incl. taxes.

As I'm traveling alone and hotels are pretty expensive, I'm looking if there are cheaper options available or more value for money. After all there is no difference in cost if you are staying alone or with 2 persons.

Does anyone knows or can advise me if Priceline / Hotwire would have better deals in your opinion?

I preferably would like to stay in the Midtown Central, Times Square or MSG/Hells Kitchen area. 3* hotels should be minimum and preferably higher ratings.

Advice or your thoughts will be very much appreciated.

Regards,

G.B.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Are you looking to bid on PRICELINE (usually the lowest cost option) or are you looking at HOTWIRE / PRICELINE EXPRESS where you can take a guess as to the hotel that you may receive before your purchase?

Are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR is the goal the least expensive 3* or better in any of your acceptable zones? Is the Lower East Side an option as i'm seeing quite a few PRICELINE EXPRESS offers (both 3* and 4*) that are cheaper than your back-up and well reviewed... but this is not in your included zones above.

Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option?

Let's start with the above and we'll have a closer look at your options.

Thanks!

Well first of all I think Hotwire / Priceline Express would be more preferred as I would like to have a good guess of where I will be staying.

Regarding budget I would like to stay just under $200,- before taxes. The lower east is ok too although I would prefer to be a bit more central located. I'll guess I just have to wait and see what comes up and decide if it will be more value for money compared to the Yotel.

I would consider splitting up the Priceline bids although I do not want to have more than 2 different staying's.

Hoping this clarifies a bit.

Looking at PRICELINE EXPRESS if you split:

7/17-7/20 there are a few 3*-4* options in the $150-$175 range

7/20-7/25 there are 3* options starting at $153 (LES zone) and 4* options starting at $172

I will add that while the Yotel does get very good reviews, it's not the most convenient to the subway... it's certainly do-able and you could do much worse, but something like the Wyndham Garden Hotel Manhattan Chelsea West (available thru HOTWIRE for your complete state for $197/nite) would put you more in the heart of things.

Ultimately it comes down to what you want from this stay, where you want to be located, if you mind changing hotels, and your budget.
