katekuli Posted June 23, 2015 Report Posted June 23, 2015 Administrator--I am jumping in on this thread. We will be in NYC June 28-30 and are interested in the same areas. How do I go about booking the W Hotel in MTE for $180? Thanks!!
AaronJB Posted June 23, 2015 Report Posted June 23, 2015 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Moving this post to its own thread. Different dates - even slightly - result in different inventory and pricing. I do see what appears to be the W for $200 for these dates on Hot.wire, but unfortunately when I click on it says "no longer available." On the cheaper side, I see what may be the Roosevelt for these dates for $124. I'm also seeing a 4* for $175 on Hot.wire in the Empire State Building zone w/Restaurant, Fitness, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Pet Friendly. -- This would be a possible match for the Carlton or St Giles the Court, although I'd guess the latter is more likely. If the St Giles, that property was formerly a W. Please keep us updated with what you decide and let us know if you have any additional questions. katekuli Posted June 23, 2015 Author Report Posted June 23, 2015 Thanks for your help! I would like to find something a little nicer than the Roosevelt. I would say a 4* in the Midtown area. I am new to this---should I wait another day and see if a good hotel opens for under $200?
AaronJB Posted June 23, 2015 Report Posted June 23, 2015 Thoughts on the St Giles potential listing I mentioned above? That area is just a tad South of MTE. katekuli Posted June 23, 2015 Author Report Posted June 23, 2015 It doesn't look like it gets good reviews--or maybe I'm being too picky! I was hoping for something like The W or Benjamin.
yellowdog Posted June 24, 2015 Report Posted June 24, 2015 I always take the TA reviews with a grain of salt. And keep in mind with TA reviews that many of those people paid full price, which is often significantly more, and may have different expectations at those price points. And for some reason are the TA reviewers many times eager to complain over ridiculous things. Let us know how we can help you further with your stay. thereuare Posted June 24, 2015 Report Posted June 24, 2015 I was hoping for something like The W or Benjamin. The Benjamin is 4.5* rated by PRICELINE... which W hotel are you referring to? I'm seeing the Wyndham Garden Chinatown for $128/nite, and while it may be a little further south than your ideal choice, the hotel does get excellent reviews, is within 5 blocks of three different subway stations, and at this rate provides a very good value (and a nice chunk of change left over to enjoy doing something nice in NYC) We can certainly suggest some other options if you want something more upscale and to spend more, but it think this property at this price provides a very nice 'bang for your buck.'
