mstudda1 Posted June 19, 2015 Report Posted June 19, 2015 Hi, I'm looking for a Classic New York Hotel, not super modern. Around $250-$275 a night, need some insight as to what would fit the bill. - Highly rated- High Class- 100% New York- 4* plus, prefer 4.5*+ Like to be in a hotel that is centrally located. Specific area does not matter. I assume I would be bidding on this, to get this price. Thank You,
thereuare Posted June 19, 2015 Report Posted June 19, 2015 Welcome to BetterBidding! Few comments to get started... In NYC there is usually a big jump in price between 4* and 4.5* rated hotels... at current rates your budget is in the 4* range and a 4.5* will likely cost you over $300/nite. If you bid on PRICELINE you will likely get the lowest possible price, but you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you bid... there is no way to target only the higher rated/most desirable hotels in the zone. If you want to ensure the hotel is one of the better reviewed/more desirable properties you will need to use PRICELINE EXPRESS (or HOTWIRE) and choose one of the hotels that have high reviews (you can also use the details of the offer to make a guess as to what hotel it is that is offered to ensure it meets your needs) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. mstudda1 Posted June 20, 2015 Author Report Posted June 20, 2015 Thank You for the reply. 4* is good, as long as it meets the above requirements. PRICELINE EXPRESS may be the best option for me. Which sublocation provides the best "value" based on the expected hotel? Let me know if that does not make sense. Thank you,
thereuare Posted June 20, 2015 Report Posted June 20, 2015 I think the Empire Hotel, which is available for $236/nite for your dates, fits your requirements... any negative reviews mostly center around the rooms being small, but you are likely going to find that at any 'classic' NYC hotel (it's how hotels were built). This is certainly a 'classic' and the hotel can be seen in many NYC skyline pictures. The Upper West Side usually isn't the most convenient, but assuming we're right on this hotel (i think we are) you're two blocks from the 1 train and 4 blocks from the A,B,C,D trains. My personal preference would be the Distrikt Hotel, which is only 3.5* rated but gets excellent reviews, however, this is more my style (modern) which isn't really what you say your looking for. Thoughts on The Empire? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. mstudda1 Posted June 20, 2015 Author Report Posted June 20, 2015 Thank You for the insight. I guess I mean also classic luxury, like gold trim, etc. Park Lane is currently at the top of my list. If I need to step up to 300, I can, but that would be top. Room size is not too important, since all are small. Thank you again. Distrikt looks awesome for our second trip. Just wanted this one to entertain our thoughts of "classic". Much appreciated.
thereuare Posted June 20, 2015 Report Posted June 20, 2015 ...classic luxury, like gold trim, etc.So i have a better understanding... do you mean like 'Donald Trump' If not, couild you provide example(s) of the type of hotel that you're referring to? (ideally NYC examples, but if not, then an example in another city would be fine) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. mstudda1 Posted June 23, 2015 Author Report Posted June 23, 2015 Sorry, thought I replied earlier... Trump style, yes. Park Lane hotel is also a good example as is Warwick. My ultimate question/request is can you identify a bidding category or PRICELINE EXPRESS booking that would fit the bill. Thank You,
thereuare Posted June 23, 2015 Report Posted June 23, 2015 I feel like what you describe is more Vegas than NYC, but... What about The Lucerne for $189/nite? Same comments regarding the Upper West Side apply, but this property is located near the 1 train. I also see the Novotel New York Times Square for $259/nite, St. Giles The Tuscany for $262/nite, and The Warwick for $295/nite. Any of the above of interest at these prices? mstudda1 Posted June 23, 2015 Author Report Posted June 23, 2015 The Tuscany and Warwick fit the bill. Warwick esp. What method do you suggest to get those prices? Thank you,
thereuare Posted June 23, 2015 Report Posted June 23, 2015 Search HOTWIRE for your dates and you should see: 4.5* ESB property for $274 (this is the price i'm currently seeing, your rate may differ by a few dollars either way) with: Free Internet Boutique Fitness Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet (NOTE: there is a similar priced hotel with a longer amenity set... you want this shorter list) ... my guess for this one would be the St. Giles - The Tuscany and this 4.5* MTC property (currently priced at $300/nite, again, your price may differ by a few dollars): Fitness Restaurant Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower ... guess here would be The Warwick Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
