lablelarry Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Summary: 4-5* MTE MTW bidding strategy for End June/July.Price willing to spend: Price, depends on what comes up and if it's higher we'll stay shorter, lower and we'll stay longer. Split stay:: Willing to come on any day, like if Friday start makes cheaper, that's fine, and willing to split the stay (weekend at one hotel and then rest of days elsewhere if that helps at all). When placing bids: we are willing to wait to last minute...even last day to book, in hopes of higher star hotels opening up (have read on here a few things about that)....willing to take chance to get the higher star ones be available. Hi, it will be my first time in NYC with hubby/and son (5 years old) (if we only get one bed we'll just have him in ours...instead of bidding on hotwire for double beds..Hopefully looking for a 4* or even 5*. Depending on the rate we will stay longer or shorter period of time. My hubby has been before and wants us to stay in timesquare, but having looked over the descriptions (I think from this site) I think MTE would be fine too. I am worried that NYC isn't really good summer vacation for a 5 year old, but I'm sure there will be things to do (I've read on forumns about things to do for kids). Anytime end of June/beginning of July, I will look up to see if there are any festivals/conventions which might reduce the occupancy rates at hotels.Thought I'd ask far in advance incase your bidding recommendations are to start bidding far in advance, since I can wait the 72 hours before rebidding, or since I can take the chance, I could get bidding strategy then implement it closer to the day of leaving.Thank You for your assistance, and I will use the links suggested for Priceline. Also, anyone who has any other info they would like to share, please do. Tanya
