Hotwire Hotel: 5* Vegas (North Strip) Venetian

I'm a new member, and this is my first post, so thanks in advance for the help.

I'm fairly certain that the 5* hotel hotwire is listing is the Venetian, and right now, the venetian website is listing their Venetian Luxury Suite w/ 1 King bed at $179 per night. However, their Venetian Bella Suite w/ 2 queen beds is listed at $209 per night. I put in 2 guests in the search request in hotwire. Is it more likely that hotwire would list the cheapest room, or is there as good a chance that they could be listing the room with 2 queens. Being that it will just be my wife and I staying in the room, it would be nice to get the room with the King bed, and we'd be able to save more using DTD. Any indication of which case is more likely based on previous wins would be helpful.

My second question is about using the double the difference guarantee. If it in fact is the room with the $179 rate, that would be a savings of $57 a night for four nights. My only concern is about the 3 days to verify. If I make the purchase on hotwire, and the Venetian raises their rate the next day before hortwire verifies it, am I out of luck, or is there any way to prove to hotwire the rate I found when I submitted my DTD request. Thanks again for the help.

The Double the Difference claim would be vs. the $179/nite rate.

You can make a print out of the screen and/or use a screen capture of the current rates and use that as proof of your claim in case prices change.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the help. I went ahead and bought the room on hotwire last night, which was for the venetian, and submitted the request for DTD right away. They have received my request, but I'm not sure if it's been verified yet. One person I talked to today said it was, and another said it hadn't yet.

It turns out that the room I got wasn't the Venetian luxury, which was a king size room in the original tower, but instead is the Venezia Bella, which is a two queen bed room in the new tower, which is fine, but now I'm not sure if I'm going to get as much back from DTD, since when I checked the rates right after my hotwire booking, the Venezia Bella was going for $219, while the Venetian Luxury was $179, which is the rate I submitted in my DTD request. On top of that, this afternoon the rates have gone up, and now the Venetian Luxury is $239 and there is no availability in the Venezia Bella at all. I did save a copy of the internet page last night that had the lower rates on it, so hopefully that will do.

Any thoughts are definitely appreciated.

Since when did Hotwire start giving their customers rooms in the Venezia Bella tower? Where did you get this info from?

I called the venetian just to make sure that there weren't any problems with my hotwire reservation, and that's the room they told me I was in, and they specifically said it was in the new tower.

OK, here's an update.

I called the Venetian back again just to make sure what the first person told me was accurate. The person in the reservation department I talked to this time said that he didn't show any specific room type yet assigned to my reservation. When I told him what the first lady had told me about the venezia bella, he said he didn't know where she got that information. He also said that if I called back tomorrow, before 4pm, that there would be someone that specifically handles assigning rooms to hotwire reservations, so we'll see how that works out.

I also talked to a supervisor at hotwire, and he called the hotel for me and said that they hadn't assigned a room yet, and normally wait until you check-in to assign a room type depending on what's available, but that normally it's the venetian luxury in the original tower. So, apparently what I first wrote might not have been accurate. But I'm sure that was what the lady originally told me, because I was so surprised at the room that I asked her at least three times, "so, I'm assigned the Venezia bella" and she confirmed it each time. Either way, not too big of a deal, but if it does turn out to be in the venezia tower, I'll let you know. I'm still waiting patiently to see if my DTD request actually goes through, but the supervisor said it shouldn't be an issue and that they should honor the lowest rate at the hotel. Thanks again.

I got an e-mail yesterday saying that I was going to get a $568 refund for my hotwire purchase. It looks like it's going to be double the difference between hotwire's $250 rate and the venetian's $179 rate, dropping the room rate to $108 a night for wed, thurs, fri and sat night for a total savings of $284 off the venetian rate, which is awesome. thanks so much for all your help. It's much appreciated.

Could I ask the OP, initially you thought you had been given a Venezia room. Was this on the booking on the website after you conpleted booking, or did you get this information onl by calling up Hotwire?

If it was on the booking page after completing booking, I'm surprised they used the $179 rate as it says on the Hotwire website

"Within 48 hours of booking, if you find a lower price for an equivalent room type for the length of your stay, in the same hotel, and on the same dates, we'll give you double the difference!"

I called the Venetian directly, and asked them what room had been reserved, and the first person I talked to said the venezia bella, but after calling back again, the next two people confirmed that in fact the room type had not been asigned yet, and that it would be done on check-in and would probably be the standard venetian luxury.
