tiffanystangl Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 I am taking my Mom (who will be visiting from South Africa) and my daughter to Vegas from Oct 11-15. Would love to stay in one of the top casino hotels that isn't going to break the bank. We will need a room with 2 queens. What should I look out for? Should I wait until closer to the time to look? Don't want the Trump or one of those as we want a casino. When I tried to punch 5* in to Priceline it came up with $94 a night on North Strip. No casino on the list of amenities so has to be Trump. Would like something like Venetian, Cosmo, Aria or something. How can I be assured I am getting 2 queens? Also my Mom smokes, so although we don't want a smoking room, I would like for her to at least be able to smoke in the casino or somewhere on the property. Any tips? Thank you!
yellowdog Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please post you max budget/night before tax/fee's. A few basics before we start. You can't bid on or avoid a specific hotel when using PRICE.LINE You have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) you select. Please note that PRICELINE and PRICELINE EXPRESS only guarantees double occupancy, after that is at the discretion of the hotel. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. You need to look for "Bed Choice" option If you're going to use PRICELINE EXPRESS so you can chose two beds. A second option would be to search HOTWIRE for your dates. HOTWIRE guarantees sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (up to 4 guests)... this often means two beds in the room, but the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway brought into the room, etc. So a search for 2 adults + 1 child or 3 adults will secure the bedding for you Let us know your thoughts and we'll go from there. tiffanystangl Posted June 9, 2015 Author Report Posted June 9, 2015 THanks Yellowdog! $150 is my max. Do you think I am likely to find a better deal if I wait a while since the trip is only in October? The Trump would be OK I guess, but my Mom is a smoker so I would like that to be somewhat convenient for her... Thanks for your advice.
yellowdog Posted June 9, 2015 Report Posted June 9, 2015 The PRICELINE EXPRESS Trump deal is OK in my book but it don't indicate a bed choice so you only have a guarantee for one bed. No one can say if the rates will come up or down between now and your stay. But October is a busy time in Vegas with many events taking place. but my Mom is a smoker so I would like that to be somewhat convenient for her...Most 4*+ USA hotels are smoke free these days but most have designated smoking areas. I haven't been to Vegas for a few years now so I don't know how the smoking situation is on the casinos today. But I see what I think is the Trump on HOTWIRE $127 + tax/fee's for 3 adults. Would that be OK? That is the only 5* I can find within your budget. Or you need to go with 4* How old is your child? thereuare Posted June 9, 2015 Report Posted June 9, 2015 Note that there are two large® conventions taking place during these dates, one with 10K attendees and one with 30K attendees, which combined will likely have an effect on higher than usual hotel rates for these dates. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
tiffanystangl Posted June 10, 2015 Author Report Posted June 10, 2015 Oh no! I see that. How much of an effect do you think that will have. If you were in my shoes would you grab something now for October or would you wait a little while to see what happens?
AaronJB Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 There is no way to know if rates will come down between now and then, as so many factors come into play. If you can find something that would appear to be a good deal, I'd lock it in now. As noted, there's no guarantee on exact bedding aside from either A) PRICELINE EXPRESS showing bed choice and 2 beds being one of the options or B ) searching for more than 2 people on HOTWIRE (indicating 2 adults and 2 children, even if there isn't 2 children), but the latter doesn't guarantee exact bedding, just that there will be more than 1 bed (could be 2 beds, 1 + rollaway or 1 + sofa.) Are you willing to risk potentially not getting two beds?
