iam.cho
Hi, It's my first time trying to bid for a hotel on priceline and wanted to get some strategy from you guys.I'm hoping to book a 4 stars for 4 nights in either Union Square East, Union Square West, Fisherman's Wharf, Financial District or SOMA area.My personal preference is FD - USE - FW - USW - SOMA. and my maximum budget is at $150. As of 5/26/2015, the re-bid zones for my purpose is Civic Center South, Japan Town, Marina, Richmond, SFO North and South San Francisco. Could you provide some strategy for me please? Also, could you recommend me a reasonable $$ (my max would still be $150) and provide a strategy for me if I were to go with 3.5 stars in the same zones? For 3.5 stars, the re-bid zones seem like Marina, Richmond and SFO North. I appreciate your assistance greatly in advance! Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! At current rates I'm doubtful that your budget will be enough for a 3.5* or 4* hotel, but if you want to give it a try you can bid as follows: At the 3.5* level you have THREE re-bid zones (we will use these three for both 3.5* and 4* bidding). If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. Select 4* FD, USE, FW... Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $108, if rejected add re-bid zone... iam.cho
Hi again, I tried the strategy with 4* last night, but did not win the bid =(So I'll probably try bidding again over the weekend.I'm thinking about just going with 3.5* since spending quite a bit of time and getting rejected every single time was pretty irritating lol Link to comment
thereuare
We commented above that your budget wasn't likely realistic and that the bidding my be for naught. We can shorten the bidding strategy if you'd like by using higher bid increments, but it's a trade-off between time spent bidding and getting the lowest price/best deal. At current rates you likely would need to be in the $175-$195 range to be successful. Let us now if/how you'd like to proceed and we will advise accordingly. iam.cho
Is $150 max still too low for 3.5* hotels in the same zones? If so, could you provide a strategy for the 3* hotel with the same max budget ($150)? or is that still unrealistic? Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
At current rates i think you will need to be closer to $175/nite for a 3 star or better (and a 4 star will now likely take over $200/nite). If you want to try for a 3* up to $150/nite you can try the following (and i have modified the bidding strategy for fewer bids): When bidding 3* in San Francisco you have ONE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. Select 3* USE, USW, FW, FD... Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 3* USE, USW, FW, SOMA... Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 3* FD, SOMA, USE, USW... Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 3* FD, SOMA, USE, FW... Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 3* USE, USW, FW, FD, SOMA... Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $150 Any questions feel free to ask.
