Priceline Hotel: Hyatt Tamaya help

I will be using Priceline for the first time to bid on this resort and I have read many threads here carefully to see what's what but I still have a question.

I need July 7-9 - and I gather from the suggestions I could start trying now.

I noticed one thread linking to the low occupancy dates for Hyatts (based on when they are offering special deals etc) and found my dates are within one of their low bands.

Their website's current quoted rate fpr those days is $255/night. What I don't know is what is a reasonable amount (as opposed to hopelessly too low or needlessly high ) to start bidding at?

Thanks for your help.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

You do realize you're bidding for Resort class property in this zone... and not necessarily for the Hyatt Tamaya?

If you're ok with the above, what is your maximum bid? We'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow.

Yes we know we're bidding on that as a resort in that zone.

What we are willing to pay - good question. Partly we're not sure what seems feasible but we certainly don't want to pay full price. I notice on this board people often seem to be able to get bids accepted at 50-60% of the full price in low demand times etc. So maybe $125-150 zone. Less would be great of course. More and we might rethink our plan.

You have eight re-bid zones when bidding resort in this area, if you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained. I would begin as follows:

Select Resort and Santa Ana Pueblo...

Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone4...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone5...

Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone6...

Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone7...

Bid $120.

Select Resort and Santa Ana Pueblo and re-bid zone8...

Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone4...

Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone5...

Bid $150.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good Luck and let us now how it goes.

Thanks for the advice. I bid from $80 to $120 using the rebids with no luck. I guess I need to wait three days now as I have tried all the rebid options.

A message comes up on Priceline "The median retail price of a resort in this area is $195." I wonder what that means. For one, median suggests often lower...

If you followed the strategy presented above you should be able to bid up to $150 without waiting the 72 hours period.
