71Corvette Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 We're planning a trip to New York City and plan to stay otuside Manhattan in Long Island City to save a bit of Money. When we look on Hotwire for a room for two adults and two kids there are several hotels that pop up. One that pops up for Long Island City is a three star hotel listed as usually being $224/night but marked down to $164/night. There's no description for hte hotel, it just says "Still Gathering Reviews". Any idea which hotel this may be? Are there many 3 star hotels in this area? Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 Welcome back. Please remember to follow-up your threads with your wins/decisions as you make them (even if you don't ultimately use PRICELINE / HOTWIRE, cancel the trip, book direct, etc) as this help keep the board better organized and more useful for everyone... as well as being a courtesy to anyone who took the time to help with your travel plans. What are the dates of your trip above? How are you arriving to this area (which airport, train station, etc... or are you driving in)? How old are your kids? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
71Corvette Posted May 17, 2015 Author Report Posted May 17, 2015 We never booked anything on the last trip I asked a question about. I never thought to come back and say that though. Oops! I'll be sure to provide feedback once we book this one though. We're planning to arrive by car on Friday night 5/22 and leave Monday 5/25 around noon. Our kids are 9 and 13 and could share a queen or full size bed.
AaronJB Posted May 18, 2015 Report Posted May 18, 2015 Please post in the thread that is linked above that you didn't book anything - thanks. Unfortunately, without any amenities or even tripadvisor rating, it's difficult to begin to even narrow down what this may be. Please let us know if any other listings are of interest and thanks for keeping us updated on what you decide. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
thereuare Posted May 18, 2015 Report Posted May 18, 2015 The Hilton Garden Inn New York Long Island City is a new hotel in this area so that would be a guess, but as noted above, with no amenities or other information listed i can't say with any degree of certainty. We're planning to arrive by car... From where/which direction are you arriving from? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
71Corvette Posted May 19, 2015 Author Report Posted May 19, 2015 Please post in the thread that is linked above that you didn't book anything - thanks. Done
71Corvette Posted May 19, 2015 Author Report Posted May 19, 2015 Just a quick update. I got to work this morning and had an e-mail special offer from Hilton Hotels that included 15% off their hotel brands when booking through their site. I went ahead and made a refundable reservation at the Home2 Suites in Long Island City for $186/night which was about the same as the deal I was seeing from Priceline. I'm going to keep on checking to see if any better deals pop up. If not I'll stick with my existing reservation. I'll post back here to let you know what we ultimately end up doing. If I book through Hotwire I'll use the link on this site.
AaronJB Posted May 19, 2015 Report Posted May 19, 2015 Thank you for closing the thread. Please let us know if you do reconsider and go for a last-minute deal. For the future please book through our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate bookings.
71Corvette Posted May 20, 2015 Author Report Posted May 20, 2015 Ok, so I just checked priceline and a 4* hotel in midtown east just popped up at $155/night which seems like a great deal. The description says: Stil gathering reviewsInternet access, fitness center, business center and more Any idea what hotel this is?
71Corvette Posted May 20, 2015 Author Report Posted May 20, 2015 I took a gamble on the deal and am quite pleased, it came up as the Roosevelt Hotel at 44th and Madison. Basedon the website the hotel looks amazing! I also booked through the link on this site so hopefully you guys get credit. Thanks for all your help! :D
