dcm189 Posted May 15, 2015 Author Report Posted May 15, 2015 Thank you so much! You were right, it is the Lexington. I was very careful and made sure to book via the HOTWIRE link on this page! Really annoying thing is, I saw a $168 for 4.5* midtown east, and went to snag it, and put in credit card and all that, and then it said the hotel was no longer available. Then I did another search again and it was still listed. I attempted payment 3 times before they have rid of the listing. I don't know if this was intentional bait and switch on Hotwire's part... Also, multiple times, the results would list a hotel with low price, but when you click into it, the price went up by a lot. Really annoying marketing tactics by Hotwire. thereuare Posted May 15, 2015 Report Posted May 15, 2015 Congratulations on your success! Sorry to hear of the issues with the original listing, but i can assure you it's not a bait and switch situation... it has to do with the way HOTWIRE (and almost all hotel booking agencies) access hotel inventory and occasionally results in a stale quote to be shown (if it wasn't done this way it would cost all booking sites a LOT more to operate and would mean higher hotel prices for consumers... HOTWIRE wants you to buy a hotel room as they don't make any money until you do ;) ) You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers. Thank you for sharing your win with the board and use the board HOTWIRE link for your purchase. Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
