yellowdog Posted May 15, 2015 Report Posted May 15, 2015 Welcome to BetterBidding! For all hotels, I believe there may have been more amenities than you listed in your post. HOTWIRE has a new interface which is not currently showing the complete set of amenities at the usual point of the search process. Please run a new search using our BiddingHelper.com tool at the top of this page. Once the search is completed, use the EASY VIEW TAB and click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing to view the complete set of amenities. Then copy and paste the amenities, as well as the price, in a reply to this thread and we will then have a look at this offer. Says still gathering reviews. Does that mean it isn't worth the risk? When you see this on HOTWIRE is it most likely a new or re-rated hotel. The best source of information for a property like this is the TripAdvisor rating if that is shown. smescher Posted May 22, 2015 Author Report Posted May 22, 2015 So maybe you can help me this way...I am still looking for something. There are 2 adults 2 kids for Aug 13-17. I am looking to stay about $200 or less a night...basically trying to get at $1000 or less for the 4 nights including taxes/fees. I would love to stay in the times square district. If not would want something close to central park than would be my next choice but those seem to be higher than the times square hotels. I would love the Hyatt, Westin, or Marriot or something similar. Do you see anything that could be those for my dates? Thanks!
AaronJB Posted May 22, 2015 Report Posted May 22, 2015 I see what appears to be either the Crowne Plaza TS or Millennium Broadway for $199. Do you really need to be in TS? It's arguably the most well-known area, but the city has so much else going on elsewhere and TS is generally the busiest/most expensive. There is the 4* in MTE for nearly $50 less and that's $50 that can go towards a lot of other things. I do see what appears to be the Grand Hyatt in MTE for $209. I don't see what appears to be the Westin/Hyatt for these dates; with the discount services you have to have flexibility. That said, quad occupancy is usually much more expensive and/or there are less options - these dates are not bad as NYC/quad occupancy goes. smescher Posted May 23, 2015 Author Report Posted May 23, 2015 I guess I was just hoping that eventually I might find the few hotels I was looking for before looking at HOTWIRE. And I realize that it is still only a guess. I originally had thought that getting a hotel in times square would mean less walking for my kids since that seemed to be the most central for what we were doing. I have never been to NYC though so it probably doesn't matter. I mean one district to another could only mean one block depending on where it is located. I think as far as style the belvedere just didn't seem like us but in reality we probably won't spend much time at the hotel since we are there for only 3 full days. At this point I am looking back at the $147 Midtown east hotel. Is the $20 cancellation protection mean that you pay in full now but if you decide not to go or can't you can get 100% back? Seems like there is a catch I might be missing. Thanks for all your help so far!
