thereuare Posted May 13, 2015 Report Posted May 13, 2015 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please start by reading your messages (which will also remove the red box at the top of the page and make the board easier to navigate) Best guess for the HOTWIRE offer above would be the Warwick Allerton Hotel Chicago. CollinFuquay Posted May 13, 2015 Author Report Posted May 13, 2015 Thanks for the response. Im not too familiar with Chicago. Is the Warwick Allerton a good choice? Good location, nice hotel, etc? I would like to stay in the Water Tower/River North area. And dont want to spend more than $150 a night if possible.
AaronJB Posted May 13, 2015 Report Posted May 13, 2015 The Allerton could not be better in terms of location, but the issue is that it is an older property with small rooms. To me, the Allerton is a great option when Chicago is in the slow season and the Allerton is cheap and someone is just looking for a place to stay. Once it gets to $125-150 and above, it's not something I'd readily recommend, especially if there's something else available in the same general price range. Let me take a look at what's available and I'll post shortly. If you look at 2 adults and 2 children, there is a 3.5* in the Mag Mile-WT zone w/Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower, Pet Friendly for $135. -- This is likely the Indigo, which is in the Gold Coast area. While not 4*, to me it's more appealing from a hotel standpoint than the Allerton. If you look at 2 adults, there is a 4.5* Mag Mile-WT area w/Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business for $155, a little over your budget. -- This is likely the Hyatt Mag Mile (on St Clair), which is a couple blocks from the Allerton. Also when you look at two adults:There is a 4* in the Mag Mile-RN area w/Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Pet Friendly for $142.-- This is likely the Sheraton. Personally, I think the potential Hyatt is a nicer hotel for about $10ish more. Let me know if you have any questions before booking. I'm very familiar with Chicago and would be happy to answer any questions. CollinFuquay Posted May 13, 2015 Author Report Posted May 13, 2015 Is parking pretty much the same for all these hotels? We will have a car. I wouldnt be opposed to parking somewhere and not moving it until we leave. Its just going to be me and my girlfriend....if you were me, which one of these 3 choices would you choose? She is easy going so im not trying to impress her with the hotel or anything....
AaronJB Posted May 13, 2015 Report Posted May 13, 2015 I often recommend the hotels in the North suburbs to those who have a car - free parking and relatively easy access to Metra trains in. However, it's a pretty decent trek into the city. It becomes what is the spread between suburban prices and downtown prices and unfortunately, I just don't think the spread is as significant as usual. In terms of the downtown hotels, I usually really try to keep the price down in terms of recommendations, but in this case I'm just not that fond of the idea of the Allerton for nearly $130. I'd rather recommend the Indigo for $135 (again, this is only showing if you search for 2a/2c, not just 2a), or the potential Hyatt Mag Mile for $155. Again, please let me know if you have any questions/need confirmations prior to booking.
