Ok - thanks to thereuare I have arrived at the appropriate spot on the forum to get the professional help I need for my upcoming trip to NYC. 2 nights march 10,11 - sole purpose to see 3 shows in less than 2 days. Hotel location is most important as I plan to walk everywhere - nervous husband and jealous son will be staying home. I am hoping to spend $150/night based on reviewing past wins.

Tried unsuccessfully yesterday on my own w/ priceline after 2 hours of reading about rebidding etc. My next opp on priceline is monday am.

First choice is MTW - MTE ok - strategy for rebid zone is a bit hazy still - what are the specific rebid zones that I could use ? Any strategy assistance would be most appreciated...this is a whole new area for me so please keep it simple if possible - Thanks to this great forum and especially for thereuare's patience with this newest of newbies!

Welcome!

If you are "hazy" about rebidding, you should read the following post Bidding Again before 72 hours

The way to check what star levels are available in each zone is to open a Priceline page, check ONLY the zone you are inquiring about, and then proceed to the next page (as if you were going to select a zone)... this will give you the available star ratings in that area. You can then hit BACK on your browser, uncheck the current box, check the next box, and repeat the process. It is important to do this before EACH attempt at adding a zone that you really don't want, as new hotels can be added and the star ratings can change at any time.
I am hoping to spend $150/night based on reviewing past wins.
It may not be the best to base your maximum on previous wins. On hotwire, MTE 4* is $219 and Times Square 4* is $285, so it may be hard to win a 4* for less than $150. If you'd like to stick with $150 as your maximum bid, we'd be happy to provide you with bidding advice once you are able to identify your 2 rebid areas.

Depending on how you bid yesterday, you will likely need to wait the 72 hours to try the following.

Select 4* MTE...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone 1...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone 2...

Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 4* MTW...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone 1...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone 2...

Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously

Select 4* MTE and MTW...

Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone 1...

Bid $150.

Reporting in on bid-

Plans changed so I will only be spending 1 night - 3/10. Went through Savingsbarn.com to Priceline and bid as follows:

Select *4 MTE

Bid $150, rejected, added UES

Bid $160, rejected, added UWS

Bid $170 accepted

Intercontinental The Barclay

Friday, March 10, 2006

$170 + $35.86 taxes = $205.86

I'm very pleased with the price and hotel - just a little concerned it might be too far to walk back after the theatre Friday night as a woman alone. Any thoughts? Thanks for this great site! dgoregon

Congratulations on your winning bid and thank you for using the PRICELINE links at SavingsBarn.com to begin your bidding.

The distance from the theater area to this hotel is not far, but some of the side streets can be quiet (ie- not too many other people around) once you start walking east (the direction of this hotel from the Theater District). You could walk down to 42nd street and start your journey east, where you will find plenty of other people on the street for the length of your journey; or just take a taxi which should only run you about $5.

Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
