Looking to go to Chicago on Memorial Day weekend to propose to my fiance. However, with grad school, just got super busy trying to book a hotel. Saw this deal on hotwire from 4/21 - 4/24.

Complimentary: Free Internet

Amenities: Pet Friendly, Boutique Hotel, Fitness, Restaurant(s), Business Center, Spa Services

Accessibility: Accessible for visually impaired.

95% recommended with 679 total reviews.

Retailed at $232 and the book now price is $146/night. Also, does Hotwire not partner with Hyatt Regency on Upper Wacker street. I had the W hotel booked with help of Tourico for $118, but something happened and the reservation was cancelled. Would like to stay somewhere nice with a river view for as less possible. Greatly appreciate everybody's help.

Welcome to Betterbidding! Congrats on your upcoming proposal!

I'm very familiar with the city and would be happy to offer suggestions beyond hotel, including sights/restaurants/etc

Hot.wire and Price.line reservations are not eligible for upgrades (such as river view), BUT you can call the hotel and try to negotiate - the hotel can say yes, no or may charge a fee.

You mention the Hyatt on Wacker - while a fine hotel, it's really not a hotel that's going to offer a romantic atmosphere for the occasion - it's a massive (largest in Chicago) convention hotel. Additionally, the basic rooms at the Hyatt may not offer river view.

Personally, while a river view is nice (the river view rooms on higher floors at the Westin River North offer stunning views), but I think a priority is a hotel that would be a fit for the occasion, as well.

What would be your desired max budget per night for this stay? I'd be happy to round up some options.

Also, for the listing above:

If you repeat your search using our Bidding.Helper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities then what you have listed above?

In the meantime, also please let me know if you have any city questions.

Thanks Aaron, here are the list of amenities for that hotel from BiddingHelper for $146.

FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Spa services, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower

However while using the Bidding.Helper, I ran into a second hotel listed for $134, which retails at $236/night, and that gives a free breakfast. Seems like it's a better choice to go with since the $146 doesn't offer this.  The amenities for the second hotel are:

Magnificent Mile Area - River North area

FULL AMENITIES: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Fitness center, Business center, Internet access, Spa services, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower.

As for budget, I'm just more so looking from the point of view of which can save me the most money. I saw somebody win on priceline $91/night at the Hyatt Regency. That would've been phenomenal to have received a similar deal. I tried to do some research with the information of the $134 hotel and a trip advisor score of 4.5/5 and 95% approval rating with 345 reviews, but couldn't come up with a solid conclusion. Looking forward to hearing what you think the two hotels are.

I'm seeing a 4.5* w/Mag Mile-RN w/Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Spa, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower, Pet Friendly.

--This would likely be the James.

4* Mag Mile-RN w/Fitness, Complimentary Breakfast, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Spa, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Roll-in Shower, Pet Friendly

--- Would likely be the Kinzie.

The Kinzie, which offers free breakfast on each floor, as well as an evening reception, would be a terrific value. Plus, first-rate location in River North near lots of restaurants and nightlife.

Rates are date-specific; if the $91 is not for your exact dates, it is not an apples-to-apples comparison.
