I've bid on Priceline for Chicago many times with lots of luck, but NY is a different story. Can someone walk me through the whole rebid thing? I went ahead and booked a bed and breakfast, but will cancel if I can get a 4* in the theater district. I bid $110 the other day but was rejected. I may need to wait a few weeks. What are the thoughts here? I do not want to go over $150. I booked the 414 Hotel for $159 but can cancel.

I do have to say that the whole bidding thing can be addicting!

Re-bidding, and how to determine your re-bid zones, are detailed in this thread: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained

At the 4* level, you have two such re-bid zones, feel free to confirm them with the board if you like (or ask questions regarding the above link if there is something you don't understand)

The "theater district" is not a Priceline zone, did you actually bid MTW? Are the other zones usually bid, MTE and UM/CPS, also acceptable? You can read about the zones here: PRICELINE NYC ZONE DESCRIPTIONS

Let us know regarding the above and we'll advise how to best proceed.

Yes, I bid on MTW and MTE - those would be the only two zones we are really interested in. We plan to see shows both Friday and Saturday and would prefer to walk to them. I'm pretty sure my husband will live in the middle of some big, hectic city in his next life. He loves all the hustle and bustle. I don't mind it for a weekend, but if it were totally up to me, I would probably go with the upper west side. Everytime I mention it though, he looks disappointed. :) So, anyway - just bidding on MTW and MTE. :)

LOL No - not a clue! :) Don't you use zones that don't have 4* hotels? Maybe I'm not getting this... sorry - I'm a bit slow when it comes to this stuff.

You are incredible! Do you get help with all these requests? You need a "tip" button. :)

Start by listing each NYC zone, and next to each zone write down the highest star rating offered in that zone.

From Priceline Re-Bidding Explained:

The way to check what star levels are available in each zone is to open a Priceline page, check ONLY the zone you are inquiring about, and then proceed to the next page (as if you were going to select a zone)... this will give you the available star ratings in that area. You can then hit BACK on your browser, uncheck the current box, check the next box, and repeat the process. It is important to do this before EACH attempt at adding a zone that you really don't want, as new hotels can be added and the star ratings can change at any time.
