healylg Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Hi, I'm trying to book a first time trip to New York in September. I'd like to stay in the Midtown area or possibly Times Square/Theatre District. I'd like to stay around $200 per night, if possible. It will be an anniversary trip for me and my husband, so I'd like a nicer hotel (4-5 stars). Can anyone help identify a 4* Midtown Central hotel currently listed at $172 a night? Amenities include: Pet friendlyInternet accessBoutique hotelFitness CenterBusiness Center Tripadvisor rating of 4 out of 5 and Hotwire customer reviews at 75%. Other suggestions are welcome.
thereuare Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Welcome to BetterBidding! Best guess for the property above would be a new amenity set for the Sheraton New York (although i'm not sure how 'boutique-y' i would necessarily consider this hotel to be) If you're willing to increase your budget $225/nite (room rate) i see what looks to be the Sofitel which would be a very nice experience for an anniversary trip. More inline with your budget i see The Lexington for $151/nite, Omni Berkshire for $205/nite, Wyndham New Yorker for $145/nite, or what looks like The Premier Hotel Times Square for $189/nite. Any of the above of interest? I'm very familiar with NYC so feel free to ask any additional questions you may have. healylg Posted April 20, 2015 Author Report Posted April 20, 2015 Thank you very much for your help and suggestions! I am now leaning toward the Sofitel. In your experience, is the $222 I see listed a good price? Should I go ahead and book, or keep an eye on it?
thereuare Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 This is the HOTWIRE offer i believe to be the Sofitel: 5* MTC for $225/nite (your price may differ by a few dollars either way) with: Free Internet Pet Friendly Fitness Restaurant Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet Nobody can say if rates will come down, or move higher, between now and your stay, but if you're happy with the hotel for this property then i would suggest booking now rather than later, as the hotel could disappear entirely and be replaced with something that you are not as favorable on. healylg Posted April 20, 2015 Author Report Posted April 20, 2015 Hello, can you help me ID the 4.5* PRICELINE EXPRESS hotel currently listed at $189 per night in the Times Square/Theatre District for $198/nite? Amenities include: Restaurant Fitness Center Free Internet Business Center Could this be the InterContinental? If so, would this be a good hotel for a first time trip to NYC for an anniversary? Looking for a good deal on a nice hotel in the Midtown or TS area. Thanks!
thereuare Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. Once you win a hotel, use the 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN' button on the lower right corner of the page to edit the topic title to reflect your win and to provide the details of your purchase. This helps keep the board better organized by reducing the number of unresolved threads that don't have any follow-up or conclusion. I'm not certain given how common these amenities are for NYC, but my guess for this one would be The Premier Hotel Times Square. healylg Posted April 22, 2015 Author Report Posted April 22, 2015 I ended up going the name your own price route (using the PRICELINE link on BB) for a 4.5* in Midtown West and won the Royalton at $225 a night. This was disappointing since, when taxes and fees were added, it was slightly higher than Booking.com and the like. I called Priceline about the Best Price Guarantee and was granted a refund totaling $211 for our 3-night stay. So, at the end of it all I came out with a really good deal on a nice hotel – just not in the way I'd planned. Thanks for the help and guidance along the way. This board is a great resource for experienced and novice travelers alike. Much appreciated.
yellowdog Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 Congratulations on your success! Thanks for using the PRICELINE links on the board. We hope you're satisfied with the outcome and will like the Royalton Hotel. for our 3-night stayYour topic indicates a one night stay. Can you please confirm your dates for this stay. Good to see that everything went well with PRICELINE and the Best Price Guarantee. Enjoy your stay. Yellowdog.
healylg Posted April 22, 2015 Author Report Posted April 22, 2015 Sorry, not sure how that happened. The stay is for 9/5-8.
