Hotwire Hotel: First time on site. Looking for DC Hotel (Georgetown area)

These are the two I'm looking at.

HW is showing: Pet friendly, Fitness Center, Restaurant, Business Center, and Internet Access.

Your site shows: Melrose, Park Hyatt, and Watergate Hotel (google says permanently closed).  Sounds like Melrose and HW says last person got the Melrose.

PL 4* site shows: Melrose, Renassaince, Washington Marriott, Westin Georgetown

I guess I'm not sure what to do next.  I'm not quite as worried about which hotel, but more if it's northwest Georgetown, it's nowhere near Metro and I will have no car.  None of the hotels that are listed on this site are northwest, but...

Thoughts? or do i add the insurance and cancel if I'm away from metro?

Welcome to Betterbidding.

As noted at the top of the hotel lists, they provide what has been reported to the board. Changes (new hotels, changes in star rating, etc) can happen at any time.

The insurance on Price.line and Hot.wire is not for if you are not happy with the hotel result. Definitely read over the terms.

With both services, you have to be willing to stay anywhere within the shaded zone.

Please provide the date/s of travel and price per night (before taxes/fees) for the listing in question and we would be happy to take a look.

I also just checked the White House downtown area since I knew that would be near a subway.

The 2 hotwire on site shows Loews Madison and W Washington.  They don't seem right since it says $117/night from $162...same 4.5*

Best guess for the Georgetown properties would be the Melrose Hotel.

If you click thru on this offer you'll see that this property receives 4.5/5.0 across the board for all criteria that HOTWIRE asks past guests to rate. One of these bits of information is 'Location of hotel', so going on the assumption that most visiting this area would want to be near a metro station (and that if this hotel wasn't near a metro it would receive a lower rating than 4.5), this should add a little confidence that this property is likely well located.

For help with the White House offers please include the full set of amenities associated with the offer(s).

Sorry, I just noticed your line about the White house one.  I think this is a better risk if it's not the hotel I'm thinking because there are 4 metro stations in the zone.

7/2 - 7/5 4.5*

Free internet

Pet Friendly

Boutique

Smoke free

Fitness Center

Restaurant

Business Center

Accessible for visually impaired

$117 from $162

I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOT.WIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links.

If you repeat your search using our Bidding.Helper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities then what you have listed above?

For the 4.5* WH, if you see:

Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Roll-in Shower, Pet Friendly

--This would be a possible match for the Loews.

Thank you for using the board's HOT.WIRE or PRICE.LINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Looks like I missed out...the $117 from $162 is gone.  Now it's $160 from $225.  using your other method, it shows:

Free Internet, Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower

For the White House-Downtown property i second the guess of The Madison Loews.

For future searches/bookings you can do the following to ensure you're seeing the complete list:

1) use the EASY VIEW tab of our BiddingHelper.com and click the green 'See All Amenities' button

OR

2) search HOTWIRE (or use the HOTWIRE tab at BiddingHelper.com) and...

  • click the offer
  • on the next page click the BOOK NOW link
  • in the TRIP SUMMARY box click the 'See more' link at the end of the amenities
What about the previously guessed Melrose... is that still offered and does that work for your needs?

Hey guys, I'm back.  I still haven't booked as my trip isn't until 7/2.  A couple of questions.  Better chance for deals as I get closer or now?

The Georgetown option still appears to be the Melrose, but it's up to $144 for quite some time now.

I don't know much about DC, but also started looking at Dupont Circle - Embassy Row area.  Anybody know anything good/bad about it?

for 7/2-7/5, I'm seeing these:

FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower

I'm guessing The Dupont Circle Hotel, but it could also be Fairfax at Embassy Row I suppose. 95% recommended and 4.5 Tripadvisor.

I currently have a Groupon for Georgetown Suites Harbour, but that actually seems like a hike from metro (about 3/4 mile) and I will cancel if I book at Hotwire.

A better price closer to the date is certainly not guaranteed. This was seen more often after 2008, but in the years since, demand has ramped up as have prices. Rates may go down closer to your dates, but there's no guarantee - rates could easily go higher closer to your dates. Additionally, a month and a half or so is really not that far out as hotels go. There is a more detailed discussion of purchase timing here: FAQ.

What is the star rating of the above listing?

The HOTWIRE site is going thru a lot of changes at the moment, not sure if the TA ratings will come back or not.

I still haven't booked as my trip isn't until 7/2.

My flights are booked and I have a deal that I had prior to finding this website. I plan to cancel that hotel when I find a better deal here. I just haven't found one yet. I should've booked when I first found site as prices were best
