Does hotwire price include hotel city tax?

Just came back from a European trip and would like to ask a question.

 

Is the hotel city tax included in hotwire price?

 

I was asked to pay a city tax in some hotels but wasn't in others

 

a bit confused whether the tax is already included?

Usually, but not always, city taxes are included... it's really location dependent.

In Italy it isn't included as it has to be paid directly to the hotel.
