emeybee Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 I can't seem to get a price under $200... is this going to go down as the days approach?
thereuare Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 Is MTW the only zone you are willing to bid? (if so, why?)Hotwire has a 4* in MTE for $130, and can probably be had even cheaper on Priceline.Relative to $200+, seems like a good trade-off (if even considered a trade-off at all).If you need help with a bidding strategy let us know, if not, let us know how it goes. emeybee Posted January 5, 2006 Author Report Posted January 5, 2006 I am looking for the MTW because I'm only in NY for two days and most places I'm going are off the NQRW line so I'd prefer a hotel near it to save time walking.I saw that rate on Hotwire, it's the Grand Hyatt which isn't convenient. Most if not all of the 4* listed for Priceline on MTW would be perfect. Are you saying that the prices likely won't go down? Do you have any idea which of the hotels Priceline is doing the most these days?
thereuare Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 I'm not sure where you're heading on the N, R, Q, or W, but i think you're over analyzing this way too much.To save $70/nite you could easily take 10+ cab rides from the Grand Hyatt to the NRQW, not that you would anyway... hop on the 7 or the S and in less than 5 minutes you'll be at the NRQW. Another option is the hop on the bus right in front of the Hyatt and take it 4 blocks to the subway line you're refering to. As well, depending upon where you're heading, you could take the 4,5,6 north or south and also hook up to your 'desired' subway line, although i suspect whereever you're heading there is more than one subway line to get there. As far as price goes, hotels in the MTW zone believe they're occupancy is high enough that they don't need to offer deeply discounted prices.... what if prices don't come down and they actually go up, and the Hotwire hotel disappears? Prices don't seem high for your dates so they may indeed come down, but a bird in hand is often worth two in the bush, and i think under $130 at anytime is a steal for the Grand Hyatt.
