Hello everyone,

I'm new on this site and not very familiar with priceline (I'm French and we don't have this kind of deals here! ;) )

I plan to stay in NYC from May 29th to June 5th with my husband.

I saw a PRICELINE EXPRESS deals on Priceline, 181$ per night - 4* - Times Square.

Amenities: Restaurant and Free internet.

Guest rating 7+

Bed choice available (Queen or King)

Any guess on wich hotel this could be?

I think Mela or Row NYC?

Do you think it's the good time to book or should I wait a little bit more?

Concerning the name you own price section, I'd like to stay in Times Square, Midtown West or near Flatiron/Empire States Building, 180$ per night maximum. Do you think it would fit?

I'm so sorry for my english! ;)

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Please start by reading your messages (which will also remove the red box at the top of the page and make the board easier to navigate)

Best guess for the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer would be the Night Hotel Theatre District.

This is high-season for NYC so a 4* at $181/nite would be a good deal, especially if you like the location of the guessed hotel and believe that this will work for your needs.

I'm also seeing what i believe to be the Wyndham New Yorker for a similar price (in the Madison Square Garden zone... which is well located but not in your list of zones above), should this be of any interest.

Do you want to go with either of the above OR do you prefer to try bidding on PRICELINE for this stay?

Thank you so much for your help!!!

The Madison square area would be great too! In fact, i'm looking for an hotel just nearby a Subway, as we will go several times a day to our room to left the shopping bags! ;) 2 years ago we stayed at the gershwing hotel (that is now The evelyn but way too expensive).

I don't know if i should go for PRICELINE EXPRESS deals or try bidding. In your opinion, should i bid o PRICELINE?

Thank you again for all your help!!!

Whether to go for one of the PRICELINE EXPRESS offers above, or bid on PRICELINE for a lower price, depends on how you feel about the hotels guessed above vs. winning any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you bid... a hotel that you win on PRICELINE could be anywhere in the zone and may not be as close to a subway and/or similarly reviewed as the properties above.

If you'd like to bid on PRICELINE let us know which zones (by PRICELINE name) you're willing to accept and your maximum bid, we will suggest a strategy for you to follow... or if you go for one of the PRICELINE EXPRESS offers above let us know how it goes.

Thank you!

I think I will try bidding! ;) If I don't win, i'll take the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal later, hoping that the rates will go down a little bit!

I'm looking for a 2 to 5* hotel.

Times square and midtown west ... and maybe central park south? (i'm too afraid in choosing madison square garden / empire state building area and be too far from the empire or from the madison square garden! ).

My maximum bid would be...let's say....165! ;)

Thank you again for all your help and kindness!

Keep in mind that the PRICELINE EXPRESS could disappear at any time, so it may not be available if/when you decide that you want to go with that offer.

Note that the CPS zone contains the Hudson Hotel, which while well located, has notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards)... would this be an acceptable outcome?

Wanting to be closer to a subway is another reason why PRICELINE EXPRESS can be a good option, assuming your/our guess is correct, you have an idea of the location of the hotel before your purchase, and can determine if it works well for your needs.

I'm looking for a 2 to 5* hotel.

My maximum bid would be 165!

Your star rating is too broad... do you really want to stay at a 2* hotel?? If a 4* is available at $181 (ie- the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal) is a 2* at $165 a realistic option? It may be $16 cheaper per nite... but not necessarily a better value; is $16 worth a drop of 2 full star ratings??

Please confirm the star rating that you'd like to bid for while trying up to $165/nite and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow.

Did you want to include CPS in your bidding OR only TS and MTW?

Did you first want to try for a 5* up to your limit of $165/nite, then if rejected try for a 4.5*, and so on until 3.5 star... OR is the goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay?

Please confirm and we will advise accordingly.

I tried and failed! ;)

But i'm not sure i've been understanding well the re-bidding choice. If I choose TS and MTW, should I re-bid Morning-side heights - Harlem? I d'ont know what to choose next!

Posted

Morning-Side Heights-Harlem is NOT one of your re-bid zones... what did you use as your second re-bid zone? Before bidding any further please confirm your re-bid zones with the board, as you could end up in a zone that you didn't intend/don't want.

If you're read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and are still confused, try the following and post your results:

1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter your city and dates, and click "GO".

2) List each zone that is offered in this region.

3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.

4) post your findings and we'll take it from there

If you don't follow the above just post back and we'll break it down further.
