danceratsoul Posted April 8, 2015 Report Posted April 8, 2015 Wanted to share some Priceline bidding experiences for 4/9-4/12 (3 nights) for Las Vegas North Strip 5* hotel: - $122 bid for 4/10-4/12 (2 nights only) rejected- $110 bid for 4/09-4/12 (3 nights) rejected- $116 bid accepted for 3 nights, --> it was the Trump (saw a $121 express deal for a 5* pet friendly non casino rated 8+ so I'm feeling we only saved $5 a day=P ) Also as I'm new to Priceline, would love to hear any thoughts on 2 or 3 nights 6/13-6/15(or 6/16) on the North Strip 5* hotels again. We see an express deal for $135 - Rated 9.0out of 10 (or higher)guest favoriteGuaranteed Amenities:Indoor or Outdoor PoolCasinoRestaurantFitness CenterFree ParkingBusiness Center Questions:1) any guesses on which hotel this could be?2) what's a good timeline on booking express deals? Do we generally see a drop in prices as the date gets closer?3) what's a good timeline on bidding? Suggested bids if we are hoping for a 5* (rated 9 and above) hotel with casino? Thanks everyone!!
AaronJB Posted April 8, 2015 Report Posted April 8, 2015 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Congrats on your Trump win! Hope you are looking forward to your stay. It would be greatly appreciated if you could post that win as a separate thread and then we'll use this for the 6/13-15 stay. Thanks. The amenity set for the PRICELINE EXPRESS listing would be a possible match for the Venetian, Wynn, Encore or Palazzo. I'd lean towards the Palazzo being more likely, but the Wynn and Encore are also showing 9 guest ratings. There is no way to bid for a hotel with a particular star rating. Bidding requires more flexibility; you have to be willing to accept any of the potential hotels at the 5* level (for example) if you bid (for example) in North Strip. There is sometimes a "guaranteed" user rating, but when I click on 5* and North Strip during the bidding process for these dates, the guaranteed rating is 8 or higher. In terms of purchase timing, you can find a more detailed discussion here: FAQ. The Trump is a 5* North Strip property w/o casino - there is no way to guarantee a casino property when bidding. If you want a casino property, Express Deals (or Hot.wire) are better choices. danceratsoul Posted April 10, 2015 Author Report Posted April 10, 2015 Thank you - you were correct it was the Palazzo :) Regarding the bidding and trying to get Wynn/encore/palazzo/Venetian and avoid trump - I guess what I meant is ... Is there a strategy such as bidding over the express deal price that's most likely associated with trump? In other words is it possible the algorithm of Priceline is:1. If price > hotel A's express deal price, consider hotel B (higher price point )2. If bid too low below hotel B's minimum reject (even tho hotel A would have taken it) If bid acceptable for hotel B, customer wins hotel BThanks for te palazzo guess you were right!! So happy
