JHN Posted April 7, 2015 Report Posted April 7, 2015 Looking for a hotel room for 3 people (wife, daughter and myself) from 6/23-6/30. Don't want to risk Priceline's bed policy, so looking via Hotwire. I'd greatly appreciate any help identifying the following three offers: 3.5* Chicago Loop/Theater District, $158: Free internet, Indoor pool, Fitness center, Pools, Restaurant, Business center, Self-service laundry, Accessible for visually impaired. Is this the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza? 3.5* Downtown/Millenium Park/Grant Park, $150: Free internet, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant, Business center, Self-service laundry. Is this the Silversmith? 3.5* Mag Mile/River North, $148: Fitness center, Pool, Restaurant, Business center, Internet access. Is this the Doubletree? Finally, any recommendations with these three? We won't have a car, so we'd like convenient access to mass transit. Thank you!
AaronJB Posted April 7, 2015 Report Posted April 7, 2015 I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links. If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities then what you have listed above? I'm seeing when searching for 2 adults/1 child: 3.5* Mag Mile N-WT Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business. $154 -- Likely the Doubletree 3.5* Downtown-MP-GP Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry $155 -- Not yet ID'd/reported, but possibly a new amenity set for the Silversmith 3.5* Loop Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower $155--- Likely the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza You may see slightly different rates than I do. Personally, I'd drop the potential Silversmith. The Holiday Inn Mart Plaza is out of the way moderately in the River West area, but it really isn't that far of a walk to River North restaurants, plus the "L" stop at the Mart is right there. This is a nice Holiday Inn property, plus given where it is there is at least the potential for some really nice views, although no guarantee with PL or HOTWIRE reservations. Doubletree is less likely to have views and a bit of a walk to the nearest Red Line station, but it's definitely closer to Michigan Ave. Plus, free Doubletree cookies. Let me know if you have any city questions. Given the length of the stay, I thought perhaps splitting the stay would be a benefit here but unfortunately it looks like a busy period across the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
JHN Posted April 8, 2015 Author Report Posted April 8, 2015 I had to change the trip date to one week earlier than my original search (trying to coordinate frequent flier tickets). What appeared to be the same 3.5* Mag Mile RN hotel came up in this new date range for $157/night. Booked it, and it turned out to be the Doubletree. Perfectly happy with the result. I used the HOTWIRE link to start the purchase. Thank you!
AaronJB Posted April 8, 2015 Report Posted April 8, 2015 Congrats on your success. :)Very nice win for this property and hope you are looking forward to your stay. I'll note that there's a Whole Foods on the opposite corner for snacks/drinks. Let me know if you have any city questions. Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches. Enjoy your stay.
