txnadia Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 Can someone help me figure out these hotels. The 3.5* sounds like San Juan Water and Beach Club, but I thought that was a 4* on Hotwire. Not sure what other beachfront hotel is also a boutique. This rate is cheaper than what is being advertised now, but slightly more expensive than what they had a couple days ago. I was on the fence if I wanted this one, or a bigger resort like ESJ or Intercontinental, and in the interim, the Beach Club went up in price. Hotwire price is $180 discounted from $243. 85% recommended. 3.5 out of 5 on Tripadvisor. Amenities:Free InternetAmenitiesPet friendly Boutique hotel Beachfront hotel Smoke-free rooms Fitness center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business center There is also a 4* hotel, that I think is the El san Juan. I would prefer the Intercontinental though, and am hesitant to book this. $179 (discounted from $266). 4.5 out of 5 on Tripadvisor. Amenities:Resort Beachfront hotel Casino Fitness center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business center Self-service laundry Internet access
yellowdog Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please post your date(s) for the stay and we'll be happy to take a look at this. Also, I believe there may have been more amenities than you listed in your post. HOTWIRE has a new interface which is not currently showing the complete set of amenities at the usual point of the search process. Please run a new search using our BiddingHelper.com tool at the top of this page. Once the search is completed, use the EASY VIEW TAB and click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing to view the complete set of amenities. Then copy and paste the amenities, as well as the price, in a reply to this thread and we will then have a look at this offer. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Yellowdog.
txnadia Posted April 4, 2015 Author Report Posted April 4, 2015 The dates are 4/24 -4/27. From Hotwire... 4* $179/night - amenities:FULL AMENITIES: Resort, Beachfront hotel, Casino, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Golf nearby, Tennis nearby, Spa services, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower 3.5* $176/night - amenities:FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Beachfront hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower I'm thinking 4-star is El San Juan, and 3.5-star sounds like the San Juan Water and Beach Club, but I thought that was 4 star, so I am confused as to what that could be.
thereuare Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 I believe the San Juan Water and Beach Club Hotel has been downgraded to the 3.5* level, so i would agree with each of your guesses above... the El San Juan for the 4 star and the Water and Beach Club for the 3.5 star. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. txnadia Posted April 4, 2015 Author Report Posted April 4, 2015 If I do the name your own price on Priceline, do you think the San Juan Water and Beach Club would be a possibility if I bid for 4-star hotels only, or has only Hotwire downgraded them to 3.5?
AaronJB Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 San Juan Water and Beach Club is a 4* on the retail side of Price.line, so it highly likely remains a 4* on Price.line bidding, as well. Thank you for keeping us updated on what you decide and let us know if you have any questions. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
thereuare Posted April 5, 2015 Report Posted April 5, 2015 If you're trying to target the Water and Beach Club i would purchase it thru HOTWIRE... i wouldn't use the HOTWIRE offer to try to determine what you will get if you bid on PRICELINE, especially given the different in star rating. txnadia Posted April 5, 2015 Author Report Posted April 5, 2015 I would be happy with either the Beach Club or the ESJ, so I bid multiple times on Priceline using the different zones, and did not get a hit. I saw the Beach Club advertised on Kayak and their website for cheaper than the $180 a few days ago, so that's why I didn't bite on the Hotwire deal. I keep wavering on if I want a boutique hotel or larger place like the ESJ for our first trip to Puerto Rico, and figured that I wouldn't care either way if I got a good deal on Priceline. BTW, Priceline bids ranged from $97 - $155.
thereuare Posted April 5, 2015 Report Posted April 5, 2015 I would be happy with either the Beach Club or the ESJ, so I bid multiple times on Priceline...Keep in mind that when bidding on PRICELINE you can receive any hotel in the zone at the star rating you bid... it is possible that it is neither of the above. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or if you do decide to book thru regular rates please do so thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com.
