i am looking for a 5 night stay in berlin in a 5 star location is checkpoint charlie. i need some help so i can figure out my hotel and general bidding help.

1.

do priceline express deals and priceline name your price have different or same hotels ? would it work to bid a price 10-20% lower than the same criteria hotel available on express deals ??

2. an i try to get buy one night on priceline. incase i like the hotel, i could try to buy the remaining nights buy bidding the same

3. i am getting a good deal via "priceline express deals". sofitel berlin is the only  hotel listed on better bidding express deal lists. its of 5 star and also in checkpoint charlie location. however the amenity shows "swimming pool" which sofitel doesent have. could it surely be a different hotel then ?? probably hilton, marriott, or westin.

4. can you guess the hotel with the rating. in my case the express deal says "rating is 9+". could i then go to the normal rates and try to figure which hotel has a 9+ rating in my location ?? ditto with the discount offered. lets say its a 40% discount on the express deal. then i could go and see which hotel is listed with a 40% higher rate.

thanks forum in anticipation of your help.

The two side of PRICELINE's service use a different universe of hotels (as does the 'retail' side of their service). There is a lot of overlap among the three parts of their service, but there are some hotels that participate with one part of their service and not the other(s). You can certainly try bidding on PRICELINE for an amount lower than the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer, but there is no assurance that you will receive the same hotel that is currently offered on PRICELINE EXPRESS.

There would be no assurance that you receive the same hotel on your subsequent purchase... so unless you are willing/want to change hotels mid-trip, i don't see the point in breaking up the purchase in this manner.

It is very likely a different hotel. See the comments at the top of the Priceline Hotel List that the hotels listed are only those that have been reported to the board. However, if you list your dates, the room rate per nite, and the amenities associates with the current 5* offer we can take a look at offer our best guess as to what it is that is being offered.

As per immediately above, if you provide the details of your trip and the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer, we will research and offer our best guess(es).

thanks buddy

my dates are may 16 to may 21. hotel category is 5 star and location is checkpoint charlie.

there is one 5 star hotel under express deals. the amenity has a swimming pool.

whats the best guess ??

just one question - is it "very" common for the NYOP hotel to overlap witht the "express deal"  ?  i would love to name my price..but what if i didn't get a pool !

If you want to ensure a hotel with a pool then you should use PRICELINE EXPRESS and purchase a hotel that shows the Pool amenity.

When asking for help with hotels please include the room rate per nite and the full list of amenities associated with the property. This is the complete amenity set i'm seeing for the 5* hotel offered for your dates:

Indoor or Outdoor Pool

Pets Allowed

Restaurant

Fitness Center

Free Internet

Business Center

... if this is what you're seeing the Berlin Marriott Hotel would be my best guess for this one.

Using part of your approach above you could see if this same property (based upon the star rating, full list of amenities, and user review rating) is offered for the first (or last) nite of your stay and then again for the balance. If so, you could purchase the solo nite in order to 'look behind the curtain' and give you increased confidence for the larger nite purchase. If you're happy with the results purchase the remaining nites, if not, make alternate plans for the balance of your stay. (NOTE: the difference between this and your approach above is that this is ALL done thru PRICELINE EXPRESS where you have a bit of information about the hotel, so can have a reasonable guess that it's the same property for each purchases... where as when bidding on PRICELINE there is no way to know anything about which hotel you will receive prior to your purchase)

admin i hope i am on the right track now.

i tried bidding upto $100 all inc for a 5 star via NYOP at checkpoint charlie, but failed. i havent gone with the express deal atleast as yet, as  its  turning out to be a little pricey.

i am thinking of contemplating of downgrading my self to a 4 star hotel .i will  surely click via BB and shared my win with the forum members...it will either be 4 star or a 5 star.

I don't have a guess for the 4* property... but for the 4.5* PRICELINE EXPRESS my guess would be the Wyndham Grand Berlin Potsdamer Platz (which gets very good reviews, you may want to consider this vs. the risk of landing a different 4.5* from your bidding, depending upon how important your budget is vs. how nice the hotel received is )

If you'd prefer to move forward by bidding let us know if you want to first try for a 4* or 4.5* and your maximum bid at that star rating and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

Is this Brandenburg Gate - Parliment Area Hotel 4* rated by PRICELINE?

If so i'm afraid i don't have any insight into this one.

Admin, the above hotel at Brandesburton gate area is a PL express deal. According to me it could be Hotel "maritim proarte". Could you check and reassure me? It has a seven plus rating, has a pool and is in the same area..its also on your lists. Looks like a sure shot?

If it's is i might be ready to make some bookings.

The Maritim Proarte would look to be a good guess, but i can't say for certain.

clicked link bought the deal via PRICELINE EXPRESS

5* Berlin (Checkpoint charlie) Marriott Berlin

$110 (all inc per night ) 5/16/15 to 5/18/15

admin was spot on about marriott berlin prediction. several Berlin hotels are sold out that weekend, so i didn't want to take any risks. this reservation is for the first 2 nights . i need to buy the 3 more nightsfrom 18th - 21st may. I didn't buy all 5 nights as it was turning out to be $$$ and i wanted to stay in a nice place after a long flight.

i;m now bidding for the marriott berlin via NYOP. if admin can give me a strategy - $ 90 all inc is the max i would be willing. i would be OK incase i got dumped in another 5* hotel as all are very good in the area. also note that my yesterdays bid for $100 all inclusive for for the 5* had failed. this was for my entire stay.

if the 5* bidding doesent go through, i'llprobably buy the 4 star at brandenburg gate for usd 59++ on PE (predicted to be Maritim Proarte). its a 4 star, but location is much better. so i dont mind this well...

just for my clarification, the bid winning prices quoted on this site are inclusive or exclusive the taxes ?? shuold contricutors speak of gross or net prices on this forum . the taxes are usually a good 15 - 20%.

Congratulations on your (partial) success!

Nice to see you received the hotel guessed and that you're pleased with the results.

Prices posted to the board are room rate only (since the fees/taxes will change over time, and it makes it easier for others to compare previous wins to their current offers/bids (since the prices and bids are on a room rate only basis). I have put $95 in your topic title for this purchase, but please confirm the room rate per nite in a reply to this thread and we will edit accordingly.

For help with the remaining nites of your stay please start a NEW TOPIC (as this will enable us to use the topic title of your newly created thread to reflect your purchase for those dates, as well as allow each to have their own thread in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins and Priceline Maps)

Thank you for sharing your win with the board.
