way2kool09 Posted March 23, 2015 Report Posted March 23, 2015 Hello, am new here. I will be taking a trip with my mom to Hong Kong from 4/19-4/30. We would like to stay in the Tsim Sha Tsui area as it will be a very convenient area. We were looking to spend <$1,500 for the hotel for the days, but could pay more if it is a nicer hotel. We were debating whether to priceline bid or to hotwire. This is what it came up with on hotwire for the area. 4* - $120 FULL AMENITIES: Pet friendly, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access 4-1/2* : $173.00 (it wouldn't let me pull up the amenities - but there aren't many 4.5 star hotels in Tsim Sha Tsui?) 5* : $174.00FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Indoor pool(s), Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Spa services Thanks for the help! And any other suggestions on how to find a good deal.

way2kool09 Posted March 23, 2015 Author Report Posted March 23, 2015 Just updating this topic. Ps go wolves! From research, it looks like the 5* star is intercontinental (lower version?). Any change that it could be langham?
thereuare Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 Best guess/comments inline below: 4* - $120 --> possibly the Hotel Panorama By Rhombus I am also seeing a different 4* property (this one with a 4.5/5.0 TA rating) for the same price with: Indoor Pool Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Wheelchair Accessible --> this one MAY be The Salisbury YMCA Of Hong Kong The 4.5* i'm currently seeing offered for your dates is price at $243/nite and the 5* at $239/nite, both of which seem to be too far beyond your budget for serious consideration, correct? Thoughts on either of the properties above? Since this an extended stay you could see if this same property is offered for the first (or last) nite of your stay and then again for the balance. If so, you could purchase the solo nite in order to 'look behind the curtain'. If you're happy with the results purchase the remaining nites, if not, make alternate plans for the balance of your stay. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know your thoughts and/or how it goes if you decide to try for either of the above and we'll take it from there. way2kool09 Posted March 24, 2015 Author Report Posted March 24, 2015 Can you show me where you see the 5* star for $239? It's coming up as $174 on hotwire.
thereuare Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 I now see the 5* you are seeing (it didn't appear earlier for me)... my best guess for this one would be The Mira Hong Kong Hotel. way2kool09 Posted March 26, 2015 Author Report Posted March 26, 2015 thereuare, we are switching locations. we wanting to stay in mongkok area now. priceline has a 5* hotel in mongkok area. can you confirm that it is the langham mongkok? also, how should i bid for it? average says ~150
yellowdog Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 priceline has a 5* hotel in mongkok area. can you confirm that it is the langham mongkok? If you're looking at a PRICELINE EXPRESS hotel so please list the amenities and price associated with the hotel. If this is through the bidding service can't we make a guess. The amenities that you see is only the guaranteed amenities, it's not a specific hotel. The Priceline Hotel List l List is NOT a complete list of all hotels that Priceline offers in this area, it is ONLY a compilation of hotels that have already been reported on this forum. Hotels are added/removed by Priceline all the time, and star ratings can change at ANY time. As well, the geographic boundaries of an area are subject to change. Also have in mind that the hotels on the retail side are different than the inventory for the bidding service. What is your max budget/night before tax/fee's for a 5* ? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Yellowdog.
way2kool09 Posted March 26, 2015 Author Report Posted March 26, 2015 Hi yellow. We could do $170-190 a night. Tho only 5 star hotel hotel in mongkok is langham I believe.
thereuare Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 When bidding 5* in the Hong Kong region you have EIGHT re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. (NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc) Select 5* Mongkok... Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone1... Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone2... Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone3... Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone4... Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone5... Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone6... Bid $138, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 5* Mongkok and re-bid zone7... way2kool09 Posted March 27, 2015 Author Report Posted March 27, 2015 We found an excellent deal in the priceline express area in the Mongkok region. 4* star - $104 FITNESS, BUSINESS, AIRPORT, & FREE INTERNET. Can someone narrow this down? I'm not very good at research but I think it is either the Rosedale Hotel ($83 regular on priceline) or Royal Plaza Hotel ($174 regular on priceline). Can anyone double check? If it is the Royal Plaza, we are booking it.
thereuare Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 I'm not certain, but my guess for this one would be the Ovolo West Kowloon.
