Hallow8 Posted March 18, 2015 Report Posted March 18, 2015 Hello, First off, amazing site. So glad I found this while looking for a hotel in Vegas! Question though: I'm looking for a 5* on the strip for the dates of 4/11-4/14. When I look through Priceline or Hotwire the price is around $170 per night on the low end. If I take the 4/11 (Saturday) date off and search 4/12-4/14, it drops tremendously. Obviously it's because of a Saturday stay. Should I book Saturday by itself and then do another reservation for the remaining two days? It's inconvenient to move hotels but I will if I have to for cost savings. Any advice would be great! Thanks
AaronJB Posted March 18, 2015 Report Posted March 18, 2015 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Splitting the stay doesn't always benefit, BUT sometimes you'll run into a situation where there's a convention (or in Vegas it certainly could be an event) and part of the stay will be cheaper or noticeably cheaper than the rest. In that case, it becomes a matter of if the savings are enough to make it worthwhile. Let us know if you need assistance with IDing a particular listing or have any other questions. Hallow8 Posted March 19, 2015 Author Report Posted March 19, 2015 Thanks for the replies.4/11 only : $2434/12-4/14 : $118 per night4/11-4/14 : $160 per nightSo if I add the one day and then the two day together it equals the 3 day. Not saving anything doing it that way. Any other suggestions? Thanks
thereuare Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 So if I add the one day and then the two day together it equals the 3 day. Not saving anything doing it that way.Right, which is why i had you do the 'exercise' above... sometimes it does show up as savings, but not in this instance. However, you could always stay in a different zone or a lower star rating for the first nite, then switch to the 5* hotel for the last 2 nites. Of course this involves needing to change hotels, taxi cost if you won't have a car while in town, and not having a 5* hotel for the first nite of your trip... but this could be something to consider if these previous factors don't bother you, especially if you get into the city late in the day and won't be using the hotel much on the nite of your arrival. (for instance, you could probaby stay at the nearby Trump for $179/nite for the first nite... this would be another idea as this property is 5* rated and in the Strip North zone too... but it is actually located a little off-strip and doesn't have a casino, you'd have to weigh this with the savings that would be had in needing to change hotels.
