Hello, new to the board! I have clicked through the Hotwire links to make this search. For the dates December 31-January 2, I see two Sydney 5* hotels in the 'Downtown - CBD Area' zone.

 

 

--- $616 per night.    TripAdvisor: 4/5     100% Hotwire recommended

    Amenities: Indoor pool(s),   Fitness centre,  Pool(s),   Restaurant(s),  Business center,   Internet access,  Spa services, Accessible for visually impaired,   Accessible path of travel 

 

(on this one the 100% Hotwire recommendation rating confuses me, as I had assumed it was the Amorah Jamison, but this recently was reported with a 85% approval rating...)

I can't get the same hotels to appear on my standard search for 2 adults. How many rooms/adults/children did you search for? I can only see one 5* that is priced $512. W/Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Spa

 

Are you on the USA version of HOTWIRE or have you searched the Australian version and posted in AUD?

 

If you have posted in AUD so please post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Once you're ready to purchase stay on the US version of their site and simply change the drop down menu to whatever currency you'd like to use and complete your purchase.

 

Let us know and we'll go from there.

Hi, thanks for your help! I searched 2 adults, 0 children. I also quoted in US Dollars.

 

When I use the Hotwire QuickQuote tab above, it is showing these two rates ($616 and $618 per night, respectively). Weirdly, I did it once and it did not show (I only saw the one rate you mentioned), but then I tried again (feeling confused) and then they were again both appearing as I first described them. The top of the Hotwire page shows that it is, indeed, set to 'USD' and the country setting shows an American flag. 

 

I am in the UK and when I change the country to 'UK' they also show (but obviously in British ££).

I have made several searches but I only see the $511 property.

 

We better let someone else on the board do an additional search and see if they get the same result as you.

I'm seeing the same property as Yellowdog... while i'm sure New Year's Even is going to be very expensive, are you willing to spend $600/nite for a hotel room over these dates?
