JTW Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 I am looking for one room for one nite for a pre-cruise stay on evening of Jan 28/06 . Have tried bidding for 2 1/2 to 3 star in downtown and airport area up to $100 without any luck. If I add the beach area, would prefer a 4*. Should I just bid for a four star in these areas since it seems it will cost $100+ anyways? Appreciate your suggestion.
thereuare Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 What would be your maximum bid for a 4* in the Beach area?If you bid 4* Downtown or Airport, what would be your maximum bid for each of those areas? Will you have a car? JTW Posted January 3, 2006 Author Report Posted January 3, 2006 Max bid for beach area would be $130. Max bid for airport area probably about $110We do have a car as we will be arriving in Miami and driving to Ft. Lauderdale. Appreciate any other area suggestions that would be convenient for pre-cruise stay if above doesn't work out.
LoneStar Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 If you have a car and are coming from Miami, it seems like pretty much everything in south and central Broward would be reasonably convenient for a night. :) FWIW, I just stayed at the 3-star Bahia Mar on Ft. Lauderdale beach (about 2 miles from the boats) along with dozens (hundreds?) of pre-cruise vacationers. An entirely delightful area to spend a night before getting on board.
JTW Posted January 4, 2006 Author Report Posted January 4, 2006 I ended up bidding up to my $130 limit at the 4* level including d/t, airport, beach, and all free rebid zones. Rejected on all counts.I started back at 3* adding same zones as above with starting bid at $85 (rejected), rebid $90 (rejected), rebid $95 (rejected), final bid of $100 was accepted! I got the Holiday Inn Ft Lauderdale Beach for nite of 01/28 at total price of $119.79 incl taxes and fees. I'm not thrilled about the reviews of this place, but it is only for one nite and given most hotels in area are sold out or much more expensive, I am relieved we got our room.
thereuare Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 Glad you got it settled.Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
LoneStar Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 Amazing that I got a better hotel for less money over X-mas break in that zone, but you never know with priceline. Things look pretty busy in SoFla for January and February, so great deals may be hard to come by.
