My wife and I are looking at taking a couple days to visit NYC. We have never been, and are unsure where to bid or how much. We will be arriving on the Amtrak at Penn Station and would like to stay somewhere near times square. I am not sure what zones are considered good.  We would like at least a 4 star, preferably under $250.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

If your $250 is room rate per nite before taxes/fees there should be plenty of options within your budget.

On PRICELINE EXPRESS what looks like the Night Hotel New York (not to be confused with the similarly named Night Hotel Times Square) is available for $210/nite should this be of any interest.

On HOTWIRE what appears to be the Warwick is offered at $222/nite or the Novotel New York Times Square for $230/nite... both of these properties get excellent reviews, with the Warwick being a bit more upscale/old school and the Novotel being a bit more modern, depending upon your personal tastes.

If any of the above are interest let us know and we'll provide more details how to go about purchasing... if not, let us know more about what you are looking for and we'll advise accordingly.

The Warwick looks like something we would like. We still have to finalize the dates, since this is actually a side trip from my wife's business trip to DC. I may have to take my 4 year old as well, which would influence where we stay and what we do.

Would you rather explore options on Hot.wire or PRICELINE EXPRESS (where in many occasions - especially with Hot.wire - you can make an educated guess as to which hotels may be showing) or would you be interested in bidding? The latter is cheaper, but you have to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone chosen at the star rating you pick.

I would be willing to do either. I think i would rather know the hotel even if it isn't the absolute lowest price. I am thinking we would like to stay in midtown, central park south, times square, or the empire state building area.

What i'm guessing to be The Warwick is still offered for your new set of dates at $229/nite... do you want to try for this one?

You were absolutely correct on the Warwick. Thank you. I used the $10 off HOTWIRE link in your post.
