thereuare Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links. If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities then what you have listed above? Using this method, below is the full list of amenities i'm seeing for the 3.5 star hotel in this zone when searching for your dates: Free Parking Free Internet Shuttle Fitness Restaurant Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking ... if this is what you're seeing, the Holiday Inn would be my best guess for this one. Do you need to be in this area OR are you looking for a less expensive alternative to staying in NYC? If the latter, there are often better options than Newark, what is your maximum budget for this trip (per nite before fees/taxes)? J_star604 Posted March 14, 2015 Author Report Posted March 14, 2015 this is my first time visiting new york city.. we are trying to figure out what would be the best deal for us. newark seems like 40 mins from manhattan by train..if we can get to stay at a decent 3.5*+ hotel in manhattan for 150 usd a night.. i guess we can use the luxury of the prime location...
thereuare Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 newark seems like 40 mins from manhattan by train...It will likely take you longer (or be more expensive) as you have a few options, none of which are ideal: If taking the train you'll need to either pay for a taxi to the train station (which can get costly roundtrip each day) OR take the hotel shuttle to the airport and then take the monorail from the airport to the train platform and then the train into the city. While it looks good on paper, none of these are 'on demand' so you waste time waiting for the hotel shuttle, waiting for the monorail, waiting for the train, etc. The one viable option is the Hilton Newark Penn Station (confirm your dates on the landing page) as it is connected to Newark Penn Station and you can then take the PATH train into Manhattan... but at $169/nite you can do better and stay directly in NYC. On HOTWIRE the best bang for your buck would be the 4* in the ESB zone for $150/nite (Restaurant, Fitness, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Pet Friendly) for which i'm guessing is either the Carlton on Madison OR the St Giles The Court. Does the PRICELINE EXPRESS offer work for you? (i think it's the best of the options i'm seeing, although if you wanted to try bidding on PRICELINE you could try bidding for a 3.5* (or a 4*) up to the same amount... but not sure if you like having a guess as to the hotel and want to just go for the one above, OR if you do want to try bidding, if you want to stick with the 4* level (since you know one is available within your budget as per above) OR if you prefer to try and save a few dollars by bidding on a 3.5* property). Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. thereuare Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. Once you win a hotel, use the 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN' button on the lower right corner of the page to edit the topic title to reflect your win and to provide the details of your purchase. This helps keep the board better organized by reducing the number of 'orphaned' threads that don't have any follow-up or conclusion. Once you win a hotel use the 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN' button on the lower right corner of this page which will give you a form to edit the topic title to reflect your win and to provide the details of your purchase.. the entire thread will then automatically be move (if necessary) to the correct section of the board. Best guess for the 4* above would be the Club Quarters Wall Street. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
